Left screws in the back of new Zanussi washing now it wont spin

It must have broken some plastic off inside or may have jammed the belt mechanism. Check the belt and suspension/mounting.

Detrola record player wont spin, even after moving arm to far right.

I suggest you lift up the turntable matt and see if you can see a belt, which has either broke or come off. You might need a new belt!

sounds like the belt needs to be tighter. sounds like its slipping on pully. that may be why its not spinning correctly.

Machine won't spin

you both may have a slipping belt, but not likely. the belt is easy to replace, but you have to get under the unit to access the belt. then just turn the new belt onto the pulleys.
i would guess you may have a drain problem thats causing the unit to not spin properly. make sure the unit is out of water before it goes into the full spin speed, if not then it wont get up to full speed spin.
if it wont drain all the way, then check to see if the pump is plugged with lint or just may have a worn bearing in the pump.

My washer wont spin....

Plug off the wall socket; open up behind the machine, your belt may have come off. Put it on back on the wheel, the belt should 'give' half an inch, if it is more, replace with new. While inserting the belt, it should first be fitted on the small wheel, then eased on to the bigger one, by turning by hand the big wheel
