SOURCE: My Dell Dimension E510 is

So what could make "whirring" sounds in a computer? Motors. What has motors? Fans, Hard Disc Drives, Floppy Drives and CD/DVD ROM Drives. I can't think of anything else. It doesn't sound like a CD/DVD/Floppy drive because you would only hear the noise when it is being used. You blew out the dust but that didn't help? So either a fan is going bad or the HDD is going bad. Listen inside the case and see if you can pinpoint where the noise is. If you can get your hands on a stethoscope use that. If it is the fan in the power supply it would probably be easiest to replace the power supply. The other fans are easy and cheap to replace. If the noise is from the HDD back up your data ASAP and go shopping for a new one. It can not be repaired. If it is the cooling fan for the processor replace that quick too because if it dies you could burn up the processor. Good thing you caught this before damage is done. I will assume this is not some sort of interference coming through the speakers but stranger things have happened. Also check to see if anything inside the case, like wires, might be brushing against the the blades on one of the fans. That is all I can think of right now.

You may have a problem with your power supply(the loud fan noise) and eventually it may get too hot and will cause problems like not fully booting.

SOURCE: loud whirring sound

Three things spin in a computer; the hard drive, the optical drive and the fan. If there are no disks in the optical drive (open it[them]), listen close, if the noise is from the front--- think hard drive, if it is in the back--- think fan. If it is in the front, back up all your data NOW. If it is in the back you need to replace the fan, (or perhaps just clean it) before the heat fries your motherboard.

Video/Sound Issue w/ my Aspire One

That is a defective video card.

The problem is compatibilty between the way the video card manages the memory and the way The operative system access to teh memory.

Sometimes you can fix the problem by reinstalling the system with recovery tools.

If reinstalling the system does not fix the problem, get the laptop replaced, that means that there is an hardware conflict.

Computer won't load

it sounds like bad hard drive to me, when you started hearing noises you should have been backing up stuff on to anther drive, anyways replace the drive and boot from your windows cd and life should be good again. after you have everything working you can try to add the hard drive to the secondary and see if you can recover any files.
