Question about Singer Sewing Machines
Problem with Singer Sewing Machines I 've been using this 2639 Singer since 2006. It was working perfect until one day the bobbin case popped up away from the shuttle causing the needle to be blocked from moving. So, I removed the plate and put the bobbin case and the bobbin back in it's place and tried to continue on sewing but sewing was not going right, I noticed that the bobbin case had some damage. I ordered two new Bobbin cases and still the problem wasn't solved.I did all the troubleshooting I could including some timming, cleaning and changing the needle. I gave up, I know I am missing something. The needle thread doesn't engage the bobbin thread and of corse there will no stiches. Thank you for your time
First change that needle. It's likely bent. A bent needle won't create a stitch.
Then double check your timing. It sounds like you have it ******** a bit... But that's hard to determine from a description. Before you start the timing process, make sure that your needle bar is in the correct position. (typically the upper timing mark on the needle bar is just below the lower needle bar guide when the needle is at its very lowest point) If necessary loosen the needle bar holder and make a correction. Once the needle bar is positioned correctly... then move on to the shuttle/needle timing.

SOURCE: Bobbin Case
I'm having a similar problem today. I took out the bobbin case and when I went to put it back in, the whole system locks up. I've tired cleaning, changing needle taking the metal plate and piece that holds bobbin case out and put it all back in after cleaning. Nothing. My symptom is I can't get a complete stitch, the needle goes down, the whole deal acts like it will work and as soon as the arm of the bobbin case gets to 8 o' clock on the gears, It jams and won't hardly move. I cannot pull the bobbin case out easily after this. Perhaps there is someone out there that can help us!

Take the bobbin case out. Then when you go to put it in, realize there are 2 ways to get it. You have found one way. The other way is first look in the the slot with a flashlight before you insert it. There is a flat piece of metal the bracket needs to be slid under as it is inserted. This acts like a spring making it tight

The bobbin case is not supposed to move. It should only have a little bit of wiggle room so there is enough clearence for the thread.
