Question about Frigidaire FRT15B3A Top Freezer Refrigerator

1 Answer

Freezer loosing its seal.

I have a side by side fridge/freezer. For no apparent reason the seal on the freezer side is not sealing properly. IF I close the fridge side firmly there appears to be a piston effect or “something” that causes the side to loose it seal. I have checked the obvious possibilities; something interfering with the seal, freezer too full, Ice maker out of place. I am at a loss. I need recommendations.

Clean the door frame and the seal well. Put some DRY silicon or car wax where the seal touches, especially at the hinge edge. This is where the most friction is.

Gasket seal is not good

Check the door is aligned properly and meets all the way round If not, grasp the door firmly at the top and push it closed while placing the head of a mallett or similar item between the bottom of the door and the body of the fridge. This will straighten the door and the seal will fit again

Side by side kenmore refrigerator no suction on produce side

There is no suction normally. The door has a spring type mechanism to keep it firmly closed, and the magnetic seal takes up the slack. Check the door/ hinge is straight and tight and look at the top of the hinge. There is a small cylinder about 5mm high with a number of dimples in it. One of these should have a pin in it that operates the spring mechanism; if it is missing the door will not close well.

Also make sure there is nothing in the fridge protruding, stopping the door from closing and the seal sticking!

Suction of freezer door

No, that perceived suction effect is the magnetic door seals 'grabbing" onto the fridge cabinet and pulling the door(s) shut firmly and securely.

Typically as the fridge gets older, you'll need to clean off both the fridge cabinet edges and the door seals to maintain a proper seal, which is essential to keeping the fridge operating properly.

Hopefully you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

Freezer door wont seal and stay closed

Your pushing air from the fridge part over to the freezer door when you clos it,the only thing i can suggest is make sure that the seal (which is magnetic) is clean and not falling apart, inspect it all around the door, and when closing the door i would close it gently.

Hope this helped.Let me know by rating me or
