Question about Acer Ferrari 3200 Notebook
I turned on my laptop and saw the resuming windows screen. It took too long so I turned my laptop off and when I turned in on again all I see is a black screen with a gray bar at the bottom. At the corners there are small black boxes with red x's on them (3 to be exact). My system won't load and I've tried waiting it out but it doesn't seem to work.
I had this same problem with my HP zv6000 laptop. I wasn't able to get a boot menu to select last known good configuration.
I was able to solve it by running my system restore disk and selecting the "repair" option. This took me to a DOS prompt in C:\WINDOWS. I changed to the root directory, and there was a file named hiber????.sys (which was a dump of physical memory made by Windows before hibernating). After deleting this file, Windows booted up fine.
Here's a list of the commands I typed from the DOS prompt:
dir (this will let you see the name of the file, it's size is roughly equal to the amount of system ram you have)
del hiber????.sys (type the name of the file)
