Question about Viking VGRC485-6 Gas Kitchen Range
Hi! Just purchased a house with a viking gas range (6 burner with simmer plate) 48 '' width. The simmer plate/griddle is rusted over......is there a special way that is preferred for cleaning this? (My gut response is elbow grease, steel wool and then re season the plate.) Thanks Lyla
Try using a white vinegar/water solution to wipe it off, then wash the vinegar solution off and seal with oil.
You may have to do it a few times to get the worst of the rust off.
If you get to the point of using it, to prevent it happening again, after use you need to clean it off any always finish by wipingit down with an oil soaked paper towel to seal it.
It will get discolored with use, so if you don't have one already
I would advise buying a cover, Viking make a stainless or a chopping block cover.
