The best chance you have is to get your panel specifications and find a site where you can order the same panel. It isn't a simple unplug-replace-done process. It can be quite meddlesome. It would be much simpler to go to a repair shop where they have panels present for replacement.

Hi there,
Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

SOURCE: Laptop Screen is Cracked , need to replace lcd 16"

Let's get back to reality here.

Prices vary from city to city, or township to township, much less country to country.
I'm in the central USA. I can go to the next city, and prices will change.
If I went to California, or New York for example, the prices generally would increase.

I suggest YOU replace it, and save a boatload of money.

I'm going to look around on the internet, to check on Acer Aspire 6930-6771 LCD screen prices.
The search hits I provide will not be advertising, just examples.
I don't advertise for anybody.

Cheapest I found so far from a Reputable dealer, but you may want to try your hand.

Now you're going to need a Service Manual. See how to correctly disassemble the Display Assembly, to replace the LCD screen.

The Acer Aspire 6930-6771 Notebook PC is one of the Aspire 6930 series.

These service manuals are free to download, although donations are accepted.
(Just what I read)

Go down to the second Aspire heading. The one that begins with Aspire 1200.
Now go down to line 8. The one that begins with 5738GZ.
Go across, and left-click on > 6930

This is a PDF file.
The computer you are using now has Adobe Reader on it, which uses PDF files.
(I would recommend upgrading to Adobe Reader 9 if you do not have it. It's free)

After you click you won't see anything happening for a few seconds. Then the first page pops up.
Took approximately 8 seconds before the first page popped up for me.

It also takes additional time for the file to fully download.
Took a total of 85 seconds in all for the file to fully download for me.
I'm using a medium speed DSL connection.
Advise let the file download all the way before looking through it.

In the Bookmarks menu to the left, click on the + sign next to >
Machine Disassembly and Replacement

Now click on the + sign next to Main Unit Disassembly Process
Finally scroll down, and click on Removing the Switch Cover.

Page 76 in the PDF page number box at the top.
The actual page number is 66)

The last page you will finish with is Page 84 (PDF page number. Actual page number is 74)

A) You have to remove ALL power to the laptop First.
Remove the AC adapter (Charger) and Battery.

B) Observe Anti-Static Precautions.
Cannot stress this enough. If you have an ESD wrist strap available, use it. Connect the alligator clip to a good ground. If not, suggest you buy one, and wear it. Average cost is $3 to $6 ,for an economical one that will do the job just fine. Available in a multitude of stores, and online. (Electro Static Discharge)

(If you look they have new ones available for $3.50. Not advertising for this people. Just one example)

C) Use a multi-compartment container for the various screws you will remove. Mark the compartments for the various screws you will remove.
You DO NOT want to mix those screws up. Some look VERY similar to others, but they Aren't.
You can use a clean egg carton in a pinch. Label each egg holder.

D) The Switch Cover has to come off first. There's 10 securing screws on accessed from the bottom.
Laptop open, DO NOT lift straight up on the Switch Cover. There are cables attached.

(Just in case you are not aware. You can enlarge the view on a PDF file. Go to the top header, and click on the Zoom In icon. ( + )

E) Remove the Power Board (It's a circuit board)

One connector on the cable for the Power Board is a ZIF connector.
(Zero Insertion Force)
These connectors Do Not come all the way apart. They just spread open.
This action unlocks the connector, and allows a Flat Flex Cable to be removed.

The connector is shaped like a fat T, with small tabs being the top of the T.
These small tabs, (One on each side) are eased towards the LCD screen.
The ZIF connector unlocks allowing you to remove a flat flex cable.

Just the flat cable. There will be no connector attached to it.

To expound;

At 1:18 he's opening a ZIF connector, and removing a flat flex cable.

F) Remove the Keyboard. (Another ZIF connector is used)

G) Remove the Speaker Module

H) Remove the Antenna Cables

I) Finally remove the LCD Assembly.

I would like you to now go to the Bookmark menu, and close Machine Disassembly and Replacement.
Click on the Minus sign ( - )

Scroll down to the heading > FRU (Field Replacement Unit) List, and click on the + sign to the left.
Now click right on > LCD Module

This shows you an exploded illustration of the Display Assembly.

Gives you an idea of how the parts fit together, how they come apart, and the names.
If you wanted to you could print this off.

Now close this section, (Click on the - sign), and open Machine Disassembly and Replacement once more.
Go down to where it states LCD Module Disassembly Process, and click right on it.

Follow the next few page to disassemble the Display Assembly.
Then reverse with the new LCD screen installed.

Do I think you can do it?

If you have problems ANYWHERE along the way, come back here, and post it/them in a Comment.
We'll walk through it together.

Plasm's are not build anymore, so you could try to buy a second hand plasma, because nobody will have these screens in stock. The screens alone cost more than a complete TV.

Cracked monitor

Hi there.
I'm in no doubt that the screen has to be replaced and maybe other components to if they have suffered shock damage.
If you want to check to see if the system still works plug an external monitor to the laptop, then use the keyboard toggle to switch screens (usually hold down Fn and hit the F key with a monitor icon on it)
If you get a good display whilst using the external and the OS works properly then it will just be the screen and any plastics that need replacing.

Good luck and thanks for choosing FixYa!!
