SOURCE: Panny TH-42PZ80U Plasma TV No display on Power-up

I had this same exact issue. Panasonic sent a repair tech to my house since I was still under warranty. The tech was able to fix me up in about 10 minutes. He replaced the "brain" or A-board and now I'm back in business. This is NOT a power supply issue. The brain is the circuit board that has all the inputs attached to it (component, hdmi, etc...).

hope this helps!

SOURCE: 42"Plasma tv:TH-42PZ80U If the screen

Hi,

Thanks for your initial troubleshooting, you've mentioned that the LED light on the right didn't lighted up, that is the SS board(AKA X-sustain board) which is already faulty that's why you've encountered that kind of symptoms. You have to replace this board to resolve the issue. Click it HERE for the replacement. Double check the part/board no of your board before ordering online.

Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.

I had 8 blink on panasonic th-42pz80u. I replaces power board and ss board but still get 8 blinks. What couls happen to the othe boards? Please help.

Hi Ha Phan.
When working inside of a TV be very careful about what you touch, Electrocution could result, unless you are familiar with electronics. They can hold deadly HIGH voltages, even when unplugged for days. Here is a link with a flow chart that can help you troubleshoot your TV. Some steps require a Multimeter to test voltages. You can even download the manual if you want. Hope this helps.

The motherboard needs to be replaced kindly suggest if somebody has one.

Mother board replacement to Plasma Displays is a very skilled work. After replacement, there are so many adjustments should be done. A software update might be necessary. Are you equipped with all the testing equipment and have skill to do this work. If you are not familiar with electronics, do not attempt to repair. Whether you suffer fatal electrical shock! Instead, contact the nearest service center. If you wish to get more details about this repair work, check this link.

Panasonic th-42pz80u...dead set...red LED blinks twice at turn-on...the 15v supply on pin 1 of P7 comes up for a second then shuts down

I'm no expert but I have the same tv I'm trying to fix, different problem from yours.I think you can take a resistance reading from that pin to ground and if there is a short, you can start unplugging different boards and when you have the right one the short will go away,if not its the power supply.Put in a search on google with something like board layout for TH-42PZ80U and click on the link 11th generation and you can tell if I told you right or not

Hi,
You may view the part no. at this LINK. It is advisable to get the actual part no. listed on the power supply board itself because there some version made by the manufacturer.

I plug in my TH-42PZ80U and it doesnt turn on but a red light blinks ten times.

Apparently this common problem is due to a faulty power board. Contact Panasonic for a replacement if it's under warranty (hopefully) or a local repair shop. Good luck!

Hello my panasonic TH-42PZ80U does not turn on, no lights or anything. Someone said it was the power supply but I cannot find any anywhere. Please help.

Your tv will have power management built into a circuit board near where the cord goes into the tv underneath its cover. If the tv is under warranty I would contact your warranty provider and get them to fix it before opening the cover. If not you could try a repair shop or buying a new tv.

Trying to find out what parts needed to fix panasonic th-42pz80u

If your TV model is TH-42PZ80U, and you want to replace the whole power supply unit, shopjimmy.com has them for $160. But for each parts# on that board itself, you need to find a Service Manual to look up that part.
