That is because the Backlight is not working. An LCD screen does NOT produce light. It needs an additional light source. A Backlight is the additional light source. If it uses a CCFL backlight there is a screen Inverter. Replace it before replacing LCD screen. (Typical Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp is 2mm thick. That is a little larger than 1/16th of an Inch. Length is almost as long, as the LCD screen is in height. They have MERCURY inside. Just like Fluorescent lighting used in homes, and businesses. LCD screen's are an assembly. Many layers held together by a metal Screen Frame. Screen Frame needs to be partially disassembled to replace CCFL, (or CCFL's, if two are used) Screen layers of LCD screen assembly, MUST be aligned back to the way they were from the factory, OR CARE must be used to keep them aligned when replacing CCFL backlight. This is why it is best for most, to just replace the LCD screen when a CCFL backlight is the problem. Laptop uses a series of LED's as a Backlight? Replace the LCD screen. (Light Emitting Diode)

Kezler_0007,

I have found in the 8 years of being online, and providing answers/solutions to people's computer problems; that coming across, and trying to explain the answer/solution, is the hardest thing to do.

It appears I have failed you

Let's try again;

1) Perusing the internet, I look at what LCD screens are offered, (Aspire 4315 series of Notebook PC's), and see what backlighting is offered.

I have seen LCD screen examples offered, that seem to be CCFL backlighting.
I DO have to know however, WHAT style of backlighting is used for YOUR laptop.

Do Not want to make a mistake here, because the mistake could cost you five times as much.

You buy a not needed LCD screen, about $100, and only needed a screen Inverter; about $18.

!O_O!?

IF, your laptop states LED backlighting, THEN the only option is to buy the entire LCD screen.
With LED backlighting, the LED backlighting is incorporated into the LCD screen assembly.

There is no simply replace the LED backlighting.

With a laptop that uses CCFL for backlighting, the first thing to do is replace the screen Inverter.
90 PERCENT OF THE TIME the fault is a bad screen Inverter.

Allow me to state the primer over again, now that I have more room;

An LCD screen does Not produce light,

http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/NA_Optical/Systems/BehindTheScenes/Optics101/

(Click on the monitor icon)

Therefore an LCD screen needs an additional light source.
A Backlight is the additional light source.

A Backlight can be a CCFL, (Or two of them), Or a series of LED's.
(Light Emitting Diode)

When I state series, I mean a LOT of LED's. They are incorporated into the LCD screen assembly.
(You see from the above link that an LCD screen is an assembly)

A CCFL is a Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp. (Bulb)
Similar to Fluorescent lighting used in homes, and businesses, but on a MUCH smaller scale.

Average thickness is 2mm. That is a little larger than 1/16th of an Inch.
Average length is almost as long, as the LCD screen is in height,

http://www.laptoprepair101.com/laptop/2007/12/09/replace-laptop-backlight-ccfl-lamp/

View the last 8 photos to see what an average CCFL looks like.

Know this also; A CCFL is a Fluorescent bulb.
This means it has MERCURY in it.
VERY dangerous if the bulb breaks!
Mercury is POISON to the human body.

IF, it is determined that the laptop uses CCFL/s for a Backlight, -> AND the CCFL/s are bad, I implore you to have a pro change it/them.
The other option would be to replace the LCD screen.
The CCFL is incorporated into the LCD screen assembly.

HOWEVER, I still go with the screen Inverter is bad.
(IF, the laptop uses CCFL for a Backlight)

Go to the 'paragraph' that starts with Aspire 1200. (1200 in Blue)
Drop down to the 4th line, (3810T in blue), scroll across, and click on - 4315

This is a free Service Manual.
It is in PDF file form.
The computer you are using now has Adobe Reader on it, which uses PDF files.

After you click on the file name (4315) it may take up to 30 seconds, before the first page comes up.
(The file is downloading in the background)

[May be on my end, but it took 44 seconds just now, and using a medium speed DSL connection. Usually takes 10 to 12 seconds. Just letting you know so you do not think the link doesn't work ]

LCD Module Disassembly Process - Page 86

Hmmm, also states Inverter Board. (screen Inverter)

Removing the LCD Module is on Page 71.

4) NOT an Acer Aspire 4315 series of Notebook PC; Aspire 3810T. Posted so you would be able to get a more 'Hands on' idea, of working on your laptop,

http://www.insidemylaptop.com/replace-broken-screen-acer-aspire-3810t-laptop/

Test the screen Inverter before replacing?
IF you have a sensitive multimeter, you can. Otherwise IMHO the choice is to just replace the screen Inverter.
Parts changing I know, and I abhor it; but if it is your only choice?

Where in the Philippines to order from? Do not know.
Suggest using the internet.

Let some out of the primer; A screen Inverter is used to convert the power, (Electricity), from the laptop; for the LCD screen, and Backlight.

Is the error message coming before bios starts to load XP from harddisk, or after?

If it is coming after XP starts then it may be driver issue.

If it is coming before XP, then it may be a question of incorrect bios for the hardware in your laptop.

Screen block out

Is the screen black and lit up or is it completely dark and has no picture either? Also, do you ever see a reddish or pinkish tint of color on the screen, only for a second or two when you open the screen? Either way, it is probably the inverter for the LCD. This is what usually needs to be replaced, and it is usually pretty cheap and easy to fix. Check out eBay for an inverter for the acer 4315, if your a bit tech savvy, you can probably install it yourself.
Good luck!

The backlight on my Aspire 4315 has gone out. I am pretty proficient on computers and beleive that I can fix it. The one problem I m having is..Where exactly is the component located and where are the...

You may have a faulty inverter or defective CCFL lamp. A faulty CCFL lamp may have the following symptom: Screen flashes on and off or displays reddish pink hue. Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal. Picture flickering and/or with dim display or appear black. Picture flickers on and off. All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replace the CCFL lamp.
To determine if the video card or the LCD is faulty, connect an external monitor to your laptop and power the monitor up first then the laptop, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight. Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight or a faulty inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp. Usually the CCFL lamp fails before the inverter.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.
Check out LCD Parts for service, parts, and DIY info Use this link to their WEB site: -
www.ladparts.net

The CCFL lamp is located at the bottom of the LCD screen, the lamp is a mini fluro lamp, it is the width of the LCD screen and approx. 1.5 mm dia.
The inverter is located between the screen hinges and below the bottom edge of the LCD screen.

Laptop screen

Your screen inverter is bad, or your backlight lamp. (The Backlight Lamp is a CCL. Cold Cathode Lamp. Resembles a very small, thin fluorescent bulb)

How to replace an inverter in an Acer Aspire 4315? I can't find you the exact manual at the moment. HOWEVER, I can give you a link to manuals that are close to the Acer Aspire 4000 Series laptops.

I have found through the years, that many laptop makes and models, are very similar, when it comes to disassembly, of the entire laptop, or just the LCD screen. These manuals are for various models of Acer Aspire laptops,

http://www.notebook-manuals.com/manuals/ACER/Aspire
And,
http://repair4laptop.org/disassembly_acer.html

Look online for Screen Inverter and also Backlight Lamp, for your Acre Aspire. There are many places that sell them. (Average price for the lamp, ranges from $8.99 to $14.99, or so)
