Question about Dryers
Received this fan not working. It's a Patton Fan with the following information stamped on the motor housing: Mod# PAB06 then there is from what I can make out since its very hard to read 0 or D 2020 then another number E90368 and lastly 80M6 01-06. When plugged in and switched on it does nothing, no humming or any other sign of life, no odd smells or lights nothing at all. Any idea on what to initially check in trouble shooting this fan? Thanks, Les

The motor has gotten tired now after being on 24/7. With the blades off, it would turn easily but the weight of the blades strain the motor. You could check that there is proper 110 volt current to the motor because anything less will cause that problem too. You can also help the fan start by spinning the blades while it is on. Short of these suggestions, it is time for a new fan.

If you are up to disassembling your motor, you will find a thermal cutout near the windings which frequently fails open. Replacements are readily available, or just jumper it out. If the bearings are shot or the windings burned you're out of luck. Trust me, a new motor will cost more than a whole new fan.

I called King of Fans and the rep that I spoke with gave me the correct wiring for the 3 speed switch:
The problem is that after I wired it this way I am getting the same result (off on 3 settings and a motor hum on 1 setting). So, either the Westinghouse switch that I bought at Home Depot is not compatible or it is the capacitor. The saga continues.
