Further question..... Hi tat4u,..thankyou for your time and help!!...BUT,..on the webpage i finally ended up at( from your link, thankyou) gives 2 possibilities (under the BIOS heading),which i think only one of is correct to use!?......The 2 choices are;....... 1. ROMPaq for HP Notebook System BIOS-DOS Bootable Diskette. 2. Winflash Utility for HP Notebook system BIOS-Windows-Based. ............i have an idea of the one i think but am not certain, and it has to be the right one or i could damage the notebook bios altogether!!............Do you think you know which one?...or shall i contact HP to find out?( i have emailed them before though and had no reply yet!!) ..........I will wait for your reply before commencing further if that's ok??.....many thanks sainuerummy.

Hi again Tat4u,....thanks for all your help, much appreciated!!....I've now got the 'boot' disk on a floppy(i downloaded the 'ROMPaq' version)..but the notebook in question hasn't got a floppy drive,so i connected a USB Floppy drive to use but it is no good,as obviously to me now,the drivers for it aren't on the notebook!!...Can i download the 'ROMPaq' to a CD??....and if so,will the notebook read it without being on as far as 'windows'??......if i cannot go any further with my problem this way i might have to find out how to connect an 'external' monitor to the notebook and try this way!!......really appreciate if you could still help me,...cheers!!

Hi again Tat4u,......thanks again for replying!!...just a bit confused now though as i've read a couple of websites solutions on making USB mem sticks bootable!!..after you've made them bootable you still have to get into the bios to change some settings before they can be used, and as i cannot get that far then this option is a no starter(i think)!?......So i will have to try the cd method.......will get hold of a cd first and then install Nero and then give it a go!!( not sure though how the notebook will read the cd,again because the notebook only powers up and doesn't go as far as BIOS or windows!?).......anyway i can only try this and if no luck then i'll have to think about 'plan B' :-) ......cheers!

Sure I answered this no matter.
cant be sure but I think the winflash is the same as hpq flash for mine .
however , with the rompaq you create a startup disk and it reflashes bios/firmware from start before windows or driver load or anything if know what I mean.
In short you create the disk(bootdisk) restart with the created disk in drive(cd)pc boots from disk reflashes bios and restarts.make sure to remove disk before restart.

you can can put the drivers on a usb or cd ...with usb you need to make the usb bootable ...if you want to do this I have a program that formats ur mem stick and install boot files ready for whatever files it is that you use to boot ....

but yes can use cd much easier...use nero to create boot disk and add files(rompaq)

Advent modena t3100

Hi there
The link below takes you to a webpage from which you can order the recovery DVD. Unfortunately it lists a number of Modena laptops, but not the t3100 !!!

The link below takes you to the Advent website and clicking on support takes you to a webpage where you can select or search for your product. A search gives no results, and the list of products again gives a number of Modena models, but not the t3100 !!!
If you look through the model list you may recognise another number that relates to your model.
The only other thing I can suggest is to go to a local PCWorld and see what they say as "Advent" is their brand.
Sorry I couldn't be more helpful
Good Luck

Sticky keys how do i fix it?

Hi Dgr Welcome to fix ya !

The sticky keys are part of Windows Ease of Access Center Accessibility program.

1. The easiest way to enable/disable the sticky keys is to press the "Shift " key five times. This will turn on/turn off the program.

2. The second way is to press the Windows logo key + U at the same time. This will open the Ease of Access Center. Then select the link that reads" Make the keyboard easier to use."

3. Under the section that reads, "Make it easier to type" you have the option to enable the Sticky Keys or a link to Set Up Sticky Keys. Select whether you want to set up the Sticky Keys or just enable them if you have previously set them up. If setting them up for the first time, remember to click "Apply" after making your selections.

Hope this helps. If you need further assistance, just leave a comment at the end of this solution and I'll be glad to help. Thanks for using Fix Ya.

Hi my friend as a f700 and lost the webcam , went in device manger and there was nothing there ?????? , i did all the windows updates for her and her webcam came back , she has used it once and now it as...

Three options you can try:

1) Did you do a System Restore to an earlier date? Start- Accessories- System Tools- System Restore

2) Hit F8 while the unit is booting. On the menu select "Last Known Good configuration"

3) are you OK to do a system restore? I believe you can access recovery partition with F11 or F10 at startup (Compaq logo splash).

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

Thanks, Joe

My computer keeps saying ''webpage cannot be displayed''

Hello monkie_gurl2,

This usually happens when the browser cannot access the internet. Make sure your firewall settings allow the browser to access the internet. Also, make sure you are connecting to the internet ok by checking email. And internet explorer can help diagnose the problem by selecting the 'Tools' menu option and then selecting 'Diagnose Connection Problems...'. Finally, the internet explorer settings can be examined and changed by selecting the 'Tools' menu option and then selecting 'Internet Options'

I thank you for giving a rating to this solution if it has been helpful.

Have a great day,
