There isn't any heat coming from the the heater or defog position

I have a 2000 Chrysler 300M and since the cold weather got here the heat/defog isn't doing it's job. The temp. gauge is in the normal position and the fan blow's like it should, but no significant heat. My first guess is the thermostat and can i change it myself.

ALL I GET IS COLD AIR FROM HEATER. HAVE CHANGED THERMOSTAT, BLED COOLING SYSTEM AND HEATER HOSES GOING TO HEATER CORE ARE BOTH HOT. SOMEONE TOLD ME ACUATOR BUT IT MOVES FROM VENTS TO DEFROST AND FLOOR...

There is also an actuator for temp control. It moves doors in the duct work for heat and for cold air. that is the one that needs replacing. the one you are talking about just moves airflow positions.

Hi Stacy,

There are several things that can cause that. Please read the article at the following link to get a better idea of what needs to be done.

Chrysler 300m starts at high idle in cold weather

First check the error codes. they can be a lifesaver. Physically look under the hood for cracked or leaky vaccuum hoses. High idling often indicates a vaccuum leak somewhere. look at the vaccuum elbows on both the right and left side of the engine just about midway down the engine from front to back on the plenum- that's the big, black flat assy that channels the air as it goes into the engine.
Once again the codes can tell us alot.

1999 Chrysler 300m heater won't get hot fan blows but doesn't heat

Is there enough anti-freeze in the system?
If so perhaps the system needs bleeding.
On the front of the engine, on top near the big upper hose goose neck and nestled between the runners of the intake manifold is a small nipple that looks like a brake bleeder (10MM). This is a cooling system bleeder, a close cousin to the brake bleeder. When opened it will purge the system of air- likely the culpret you are experiencing. on a cold or just warm engine, this can be slightly opened with a wrench and the air can be "Burped" out. Attach a 1/4" clear hose to the nipple and open the bleeder until you see all the air has left the manifold. (Run the hose into a bucket and dispose of the used anti-freeze properly.)
if that doesn't do it, maybe the thermostat is stuck in the open position. Replace it with a cold engine and use a new gasket each time.
If all else fails, the heater core may be plugged.

I have an 1999 chrysler 300m an it has an overheating problem. There is also water all over the driver side floor (front n back) it is soaked. It takes about 25mins b4 it starts smoking. Can som1 plz help...

Typically if your leaking coolant inside the car, it indicates your heater core is split and leaking. Replacing the heater core is quite the job. It requires removal of the dash board and heater box. i replaced one in a 97 Cirrus at work last week and it was a 6 hour job. If your not mechanically inclined i would definitley recomend phoneing around for quotes to local auto repair shops and getting it done profesionally.

No heat in cab.

You did not BLEED the radiator and it's over heating.

Take off radiator cap when engine is COLD

Start engine

Let it idle until it's HOT

As it heats up you will notice air bubbles coming out of the radiator filler neck.

Let car run until you don't see any more bubbles

Fill radiator coolant to keep it topped up to the hot mark.

Put radiator cap back on once you hear the fans kick on.

Done

You should now have tons of heat

Providing your water pump is working
