SOURCE: How do I tighten chain on Model Poulan 2050.

Hello JNorth, It's possible that the chain tensioner and the little "cog" that fits into the bar, has slipped out and isn't letting you properly tension/tighten the chain and bar.

To check this and get the bar & chain properly tightened, you'll need to remove the two (2) chain break/guard cover nuts on the side, so you can clean out the gung under it and reposition the chain tightener back to engage the bar.

Once you have the tightening screw and cog turned so it can engage the bar, make sure the chain is on the bar, in the groove, and using a screwdriver or the provided chainsaw multi-tool, turn the tensioner screw until you get most of the slack out of the bar and chain. Now you can put the chain break/guard cover back on and only hand tighten the nuts snug. Now continue adjusting the chain tensioning screw until the chain is snug, while holding the tip of the bar and chain up (I find using a small piece of 2 X 4 placed under the tip of the chainsaw makes this easier to do).

Now properly tension the chain so that it is snug by not overtight. You should be able to turn it by hand (wear gloves so as not to cut yourself!)

Now tighten the chain break/guard cover nuts all the way and again, check for movement by hand.

Here's a link to a free downloadable manual for your model Poulan chainsaw, just look at the upper right side of the page. Once you click on the link, you have to answer a few questions (basically giving your rating of the chainsaw) to get the download. Save a copy to print it out.

Please refer to page 6 and 7 to see the manufacturers recommended steps, as I've outlined above, for checking and tensioning the bar and chain.

I hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

My saw a jonsered 670 champ keeps putting oil out the oiler tube even when the saw is shut off , until the tank is empty any ideas or fixes?

Try loosening the oil filler cap when you are finished using the saw, this should stop the siphoning of the oil. Tighten the cap again. Stephen.

How do I tighten chain on Model Poulan 2050. Can't seem to get tight enough.

Hold the nose up!
c581361.gif Chain Adjustment
  1. Make sure the chain brake is off (gloves will protest your fingers).
  2. If necessary, loosen the bar nuts that are clamping the clutch cover in place (or whatever holds the clutch cover and bar on). They don't need these really loose - finger tight will do.
  3. Ease the tension adjustment until the chain is obviously loose.
  4. Using one hand, hold the nose of the bar up.
  5. While holding the nose up, adjust the tensioner so that the center of the chain just touches the underside of the bar, add a touch more.
  6. Continue holding the nose of the bar up & tighten up the bar nuts / bolts / quick-release system. HTH

My jonsered 2050 will not start and there is a feul line that comes up out of the left side of the carb (from the gas tank) and goes to the right it is broken at the other end and I can't see anything it...

I found an IPL here but it isn't good. Page J shows your fuel system but I'm not certain the hose shown isn't for bar oil.

You might try here.

Choke wont stay in the closed position for starting

Been a while since I saw a Jonsered but I think if you bend the choke linkage a little that it will stay in the choke position.
