SOURCE: white bright spots on screen

These kind of patches or spots are called as Dead Pixels.
If you find any thing that doesnot change colour along with the other part of the Display according to the image, those spots are referred as Dead Pixels where the LCD needs to be replaced.
Contact your nearest HP Authorized Service Center and find the cost to get the LCD replaced.

SOURCE: i can't increse the brightness on my gateway laptop

You may need to just update your driver.
If thats not it then in control panel you should have a graphic settings somewhere.
Or if you look at your laptop keys hit the fn button and then look for a button at the top.
Thats where my laptop brightness and contrast is.You may have to try a few different keys but don't worry if you press the wrong key you can reverse it by pressing function ( fn ) and same key again.

SOURCE: dull laptop screen back light

You may have a faulty CCFL lamp. A faulty CCFL lamp may have the following symptom: Screen flashes on and off or displays reddish pink hue. Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal. Picture flickering and/or with dim display or appear black. Picture flickers on and off. All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replace the CCFL lamp.
To determine if the video card or the LCD is faulty, connect an external monitor to your laptop and power the monitor up first then the laptop, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight. Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight or a faulty inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp. Usually the CCFL lamp fails before the inverter.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

Brighter display on the left side of monitor than the other side

Sounds like the lcd screen might be going bad. There are no display settings that can modify parts of the screen. It's all or nothing as far as settings go. Have you tried hooking up an external monitor to see if it displays correctly? If it shows correctly on an external monitor the problem is definitely with the lcd screen. If they both show the same image of brightness on the left side, then your video card in the laptop might be going bad.

Toshiba M35 S359 Laptop screen brightness

Hello,

you can try windows up date, or check the control panel, locate display and check the Brightness settings.

It is also possible that part of your screen bulb is dead, that's why one part is dimmer.

But there is no drivers that will make your screen bright.

Take care.

Bright spot on screen.

I'd say that's just the way they're made. The background light for the screen just doesn't illuminate evenly. If it's noticeable enough I'd try to get it replaced under warranty. This can also happen when the screen is pushed and it gets damaged, but if it's happened twice it's probably just the way they're manufactured.
