HP7210 all-in-one scanner problem

The scanner was working fine, but now it only gets as far as saying "warming up" with the power light flashing and then freezes. The lamp comes on but doesn't move. The only way out is to turn the printer off and wait for it to shut down. Printer still working fine I've tried: Changing usb vcable and port, reinstalling software, restarting computer and printer, restoring factory defaults and various diagnostic software. Still no luck. I've also noticed that recently the backlight for the main LCD isn't coming on. Any thoughts are welcome, Thank You, M.B

I'm having the problem where the the 7210 will print from the computer, but the fax and copier will not work. It gets stuck in the "warming up" mode and will stop only if turned off.  I tried the power restart with # and 6 as suggested, but no luck. The screen said it was initializing, but the problem did not go away.
    Any help is appreciated,

Hi,

Please follow the follwoing steps,

1) unplug the power cord at the both ends from the printer and wall outlet. connect to wall out let directly dont connect to
printer.
2)Press and hold # and 6 while reconnecting the power cord to the product hold for 1 min after plugging the power cord, and
then release both buttons, if your printer goes off then turn ON the printer and it will reset itself and will print a allignment sheet, this should resolve the issue.

Normal 0 Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

From what you described it sounds like you need to get the "scanner assembly" replaced.
The bulb is probably bad and won't come on to full power.
Not knowing what kind of printer you have, probably won't change the fix. If you can look at the event log you may be able to see an error code which could make it a definite scanner assembly replacement.
If you want to throw money at this unknown printer, get a tech to look at it and give you an estimate.

Hello,

You are correct with your diagnostics, he problem is caused by dirty optics. The mirrors in the scanner have dust, lint or smoke on them. When the scanner powers up it tries to calibrate itself and waits for the bulb to warm up so the light output gets to a certain level. With the dirty optics the scanner never gets enough light so it thinks the scanner is still warming up and so it waits for the light to get brighter. After a few minutes of waiting and not getting the correct level of light it gives the power off message. We have a dis-assembly and cleaning guide with step by step instructions posted on our web site at: http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/category/printer-repair/hp-printer-repair/ This procedure takes about 30 minutes to complete but it should et you back going again.

I hope this helps, If so please rate our solution.

My Printer says it is warming up and it wont

i have found that in alot of cases that these units stall on scanner bulb warming because the scanner cannot find home. do you hear a noise like the carriage motor contnues to just move a little bit? what happens is this the ccd knows its home by the brightness of the refected light off of the white carriage home strip on the back side of the glass cover its reflected to a photo cell which is tripped telling the ccd its home. if the bulbs the white strip or the mirrors inside the ccd get a light dusting of dirt on them they dimm this light and the photo cell will not be triped thus creatiing this problem. with a flash light you can see if these mirrrors are fogged. clean them with a q-tip and alcohol. about 65% this fixes it.

All lights flashing

You will need to take it to your local Epson Express centre to be serviced. Usally this will cost about £20 but differs from centre to centre.

HP7210 Installation to MacOSX 10.5.5. No Device Found

I suspect you are right that it's the USB cable. If the printer does TCP/IP you should try plugging an Ethernet cable from the printer to an empty port in your router. Get the IP from the printer configuration page and print to the IP using a general postscript driver. If that doesn't work, it's the printer...if it does you can start troubleshooting back to the machine.

Fax and cancel lights are flashing

I found this solution at HP website. It worked for me. Good luck!

A Scanner Bulb Error message is received as a result of the HP LaserJet 3300mfp series product scanner’s inability to find the home reference point.
SOLUTION:
Perform the following steps to walk the scan assembly from the home base and resolve the issue.
1. Remove and replace the power cord from the unit.
2. Wait approximately 35 seconds for the scanning assembly to “walk out" and then quickly remove the plug again.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2, three to four times until the head moves approximately 1 inch away from its normal resting place.
4. Replace the plug and let the product fully finish the boot cycle.

Not working properly

I'm having a similar problem. So far my solution has been to disconnect the 3330 from power for a longer period (> 30min.) and then switch it back on again. After the self-test everything appears to be ok again. I've got no idea why, but this seems to work (for now)
