I would read the owner manual first and then remove the batteries for a while and put back. This does not use recharge able batteries?

SOURCE: garmin gpsmap 60csx won't acquire satellites

Go to the Garmin Web site's home page, avoid staring to long at the hot chick and click on "On The Trail" .. "Mapping Handhelds" .. scroll down to the second row far right and click on the 60CSx. You will then see the 60CSx page, look to the right and click on "Updates & Dowdloads", on doing so you will now see four downloads to choose from. The one you will need is "GPS Chipset Type G Ver. 2.90 as of Nov 27, 2006" if you follow this you shouldn't have any problems. If however you do i'll keep an eye on this page and try to help, this is my first GPS and also had the same issue.

SOURCE: GPS 60 unit shows "Searching the Sky" status message all the time

The "New Location" fix above brought my GPS 60 back to full operation. I did reload the GPS software from Garmin but the recovery depended on well charged batteries and as above: turn the unit on
press MENU button
scroll to "New Location"
wait 10 minutes for the GPS to recover.

SOURCE: Garmin c550 GPS-Won't turn on at all.

push and Hold the power button down while you push reset, keep power button pressed til it boots again. If it does not, and it's in warranty ship it to garmin. If it's out of warranty, have someone open it up and remove the battery for a couple of minutes.

My garmin nuvi 2495lm wont turn on at all

try leaving it plugged into wall power overnight to make sure it's not a low battery. Otherwise, if nothing changes when you plug it into the computer it sounds dead. Hope it is in warranty, otherwise I think Garmin will give you a trade in value towards a working unit or repair it at reduced cost. Call them at 1800-800-1020

GPS 72H troble seeing position

Hi Martin
We have a GPS 72H as well and (as with any GPS) the unit MUST be held (or mounted) with a clear view of the sky to acquire satellites.
In case you or anyone else requires it, the link below will allow you to view/download the owner's manual for it.
Hope this is helpful.

Not get satelite

My Garmin 298 could not pick up the satelites and the repair shop said the internal battery must be changed which was quite expansive. Tried to press the red button and page and hold it for half minute or so. Thereafter I left the GPS connected for some hours and now it works. Thanks for the advice

How do i set the time on my garmin 72h

Hi qt_joes,

I assuming you don't have the manual handy for unit. It's a little lengthy, but not hard with the manual in front of you. Go to page 43 and get into the "Setup Menu - Time Tab". It will allow you to input/change Time Format , Time Zone , and Daylight Savings Time. The Current Date and Current Time will be determined by the Time input you just entered, and the unit itself. That should address these concerns. Here is the link to the manual:
http://www8.garmin.com/manuals/GPS72_OwnersManual.pdf

This should give you all the info you need for the time and date, as well as all other operations of your GPS Receiver. Let me know if this takes care of the problem. Thanks.

Regards, Bill

Unit shut down

I have run into the same problem and it may be related to the WAAS (Wide Area Augmentation System) feature. Try disabling this feature (under MAIN MENU / Setup). I used this receiver overseas (Asia and Europe) last year for 35 days straight with no problems. During this time WAAS was disabled as none of these satellites are visible overseas. The problem occurred intermittently prior to the overseas trip, and has reoccurred after returning. I was running into the same problem this past weekend and noticed the screen blanking out (with the vertical line) shortly after differential corrections were applied to the GPS signals. I disabled the WAAS and let the receiver run for over an hour. The problem did not return. Hope this helps.

It sounds like the battery is either dead (will no longer take a charge) or has become disconnected. My bet would be dead battery.
