Sir when replacing the bulb you should reset the lamp hour meter. 1. while on the standby mode press "mute" then the numbers 1,8 and 2 in succession, and press the power button.
2. wait until "loading factory" appears on your screen and the service menu is displayed with the lamp life hours. You will see a list of service options.
3. Scroll down to "option" and press "enter". next you will see "reset lamp" where you will press again the "enter" button. good day and best regards.

I have a mitsubishi tv model wd 60638 I changed the lamp. Tv works fine for about 20 minutes then I start to smell like something is burning then picture starts to flicker, what could could cause this

You have a bad connector in the lamp. Stop running the TV immediately and contact the company you purchased the lamp from. this is common in older DLP tvs but not in one 5 years old unless you have a lot of hours on it. the connector can crack and arc inside the plug and then melt and smell terrible. It usually very repairable if you can get a ballast for it. the plug is part of the ballast.

When you put the old lamp back in did the picture look OK? If so why did you replace to begin with? Yes, there are some poorly manufactured lamps out there, where did you obtain the replacement? Was it true OEM?

The main power supply regulator section circuit fault. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. I have a mitsubishi wd 65738. My picture suddenly went dim. I can still see a picture but the room has to be very dark and its still hard to see. Do I just need to replace a bulb?

    Hello
Its bulb has got traoubled or its control circuit has some faut with it. it is not a user serviceable item. Replacing bulb can be done by the user according to the instructions in its user manual. But trouble shooting its control section must be done be any experienced service technician. OK.
