Sounds like something is binding. Take a flashlight and look closely and be cautious that you don't damage anything

Most likely. It is probably in some kind of protection / "get me repaired at a really high cost" mode, this would explain why you had sound until you restarted it and it ran a brief diagnostic.

I don't think you'll be able to claim this on warranty as it is accidental damage, not a manufacturing error, but you never know! Maybe your home insurance will cover it.

Call Samsung and see what they say, the might be able to repair it for you or quote you the cost of a replacement.

Hi tragz,

If it can't drain, it won't spin. There may be something preventing the pump from draining in the Pump filter. You will need to clean it.

Please follow my below Tip on how to do it:

ACCESS, DRAIN & CLEAN THE DRAIN PUMP FILTER

Please let me know what kind of tv it is(Plasma, Projection(DLP, CRT or LCD rear projection) or LCD tv) so that I can tell you whats the source of the problem. It sounds like its a DLP tv but I would like to be sure

This looks like a colorwheel symptom, does the sound is like a mechanical sound? high pitch sound? winding, whirling or screeching noise ? well if this is the color wheel, what i think it is, it seems that it is not working properly when this happens the DMD board recognizes that it is not spinning at the correct RPM and turns off the Tv for sercurity reasons, so if you want to replace this yourself what i recommend you to do is to open the back of the Tv and search for the colorwheel it can have missing parts or it could be shattered or it could not spin correcty, hope this info. can help you.

Do you hear a motor spin up and a clicking sound as the tv is first turned on, if yes, You need to look behind the set and see if the lamp is still illuminated, if not replace lamp. Good luck.

Sounds like a power surge likely followed the outage- or maybe you were actually hit by lightning- and since this set did not have a built-in kill-switch (circuit breaker) it could have very well caused some significant damage. Check the internal fuses, if they are blown, chances are, so is the rest of the set. For the cost of repairing something as over-reaching as this, I'd be looking for something new (And be sure to buy a quality surge protector, so this does not occur again!)
