You do know that posting your email allows the 'baddies', to send you a virus, or whatever, in an email, right? They just put 'Connect one laptop to another', in the subject line, and boom, you click on it.You just 'opened the door', and let the virus in. As for connecting two laptops together to share a display? -> NO. Will NOT work. Regards, joecoolvette

I am curious if you used the VGA output from the cracked screen to the external monitor so you can at least see what you were doing on that machine. Then you would install a desktop screen clone to both

SOURCE: Dell Inspiron 6000 monitor display problem

Well it is most likely a issue with the Video driver as you are able to boot to the safe mode.I would suggest going back to the safe mode and deleting the present driver for the video from the device manager.before you restart the system just download the latest version from the support.dell.com so that you can reinstall it.Also check in the graphic properties which screen is set to be the defuat.Incase still not working i would suggest reinstalling the operating system before replacing any hardware.

have you tried Function F7/F8 ?
Make sure that your display driver is installed correctly.
I had the same Laptop as you did and was able to have dual monitor.
Also check your Display driver in your control panel and make sure it set to dual monitor.

I would back mothmans answer 100% but might suggest you re-assemble the display to the laptop if you continue to have problems getting an external display going.

SOURCE: I have a Dell Latitude

Glad to HELP YOU!

First you have to make sure that you have the DRIVER for your Bluetooth card. Just go
-> double-click on MY COMPUTER > PROPERTIES > HARDWARE > DEVICE MANAGER and see if your Bluetooth device is working properly.
If not you can download the driver that suits your operating system from HERE.
After that you can take the following steps:
# turn on your machine and let it boot into Windows
# press the Fn+F2 keys to enable Bluetooth connectivity; locate the array of green lights near the display; also check that Bluetooth connectivity is enabled by identifying the light next to the Bluetooth symbol is lit
# go START > CONTROL PANEL > BLUETOOTH DEVICES
# click the OPTIONS tab and activate TURN DISCOVERY ON.
Bluetooth capabilities are now enabled on your Latitude!

My best regards!

Yes you can.
Connecting an External Monitor or Data Projector
You can switch to an external monitor or data projector by two methods. 1. Connect the external monitor to the laptop's video port, power up the external monitor first and the laptop. The video information will automatically switch to the external monitor. 2. If you power up the laptop first then you can switch the video output to the external monitor by pressing the Fn key and one of the Function keys, depending upon your make and model laptop. You can also toggle between the external monitor or both LCD screen plus the external monitor or back to LCD screen only by pressing the Fn key plus one of the function key a few times. Here is a list of key combinations for some of the laptops :- IBM ThinkPad = Fn + F7 HP and Compaq = Fn + F4 Toshiba = Fn + F5 Dell = Fn + F8

Connecting 2 monitors to laptop without dock

I highly doubt that your machine will allow more than one monitor without both of the monitors being the same image. External monitors on laptops can be used to extend the display, but only by using the laptop screen as one of the two. It is possible to split VGA to duplicate images on two screens, but true dual monitors will require a DMS output or something similar, which I've never seen on a laptop.

How to use external monitor on a toshiba laptop with external monitor

It's probably best to buy a keyboard off auction sites or a new screen, the Function keys are not OS sensitive so a different keyboard will not work with them, they are device specific and require special drivers to operate.
Are keys broken or are they just missing? the membrane will still work to a firm press even if the key is missing.

keyboards can be found on auction sites

sorry I can't help more.

Can we connect 2 ecternal monitors to Toshiba A600 laptop

I am not sure about two external monitors but you can connect one editional monitor / HDTV with your computer. you just need to connect a VGA/HDMI cable to external dispaly and then press following keys together.
Fn, F4

There would be three options after that
1. display on computer screen only
2. display on external screen only
3. display on both.

You can select third option and it will work fine.

Broken screen, external monitor via VGA won't

Press "Fn+F7" once, wait a few seconds, and press it again, to "cycle" through all the possibilities (LCD-only, VGA-only, both).

Try the monitor with some other computer (desktop or laptop) to see if the monitor works at all.

Restart your computer -- does the initial "splash" screen (showing CPU speed and RAM-test) show? Does the "Windows" screen (with the crawling worm) show on the external monitor?

Connect broken laptop screen to external monitor

Suggestion- on my toshiba fn-f5 switches display modes, but to remove display connectors, you may have messed up your keyboard ribbon cable connection. it probably has a small sliding lock to hold it in place- if the lock isn't tight, your keyboard may not be recognized, which could mess up your display. Also, make sure your battery is charged and/or your power supply to your laptop is connected. hope this helps!

Monitor flickering and rolling

Thanks for the git back: #1 I hooked up a second monitor (depressed fn+f5) and was able to view everything fine. No problem in any area. Ran Some security checks (malwarebytes, checked windows updates,Secunia PSI,and a virus scan. #2 I opened up the monitor and checked for possible loose connections. #3 brought up the graphics display and checked that 60 hrz was set and correct. #4 ran a backup of all my data from my other monitor, and I made the assumption that it was a bad monitor and I might save some money if I just bought a new laptop.Would like to here your comments. Nec laptop screen not displayin

What have you tried so far?
Connect your laptop to an external monitor to see if it is the adapter or the screen that is broken. Toggle on to the external monitor. If the external monitor works, you'll know it is the laptop screen(or a component of it) that needs repair
Check your laptop latch to see if it is broken.
