This can be due to failure of the pressure sensor within the washer which should output to the processor to cut off the inlet valve when the set water level has reached. Before you buy a new $100 door gasket, pull out the soap dispenser tray and look inside the washer where it normally sits. If there is significant soap accumulation (even 3/8 inch), the water can become backed up and trickle down the washer front to the door bottom, making it look like a door leak. Fixed mine this way.
your belt has probobly stretched even though it continues to function. try a new belt assuming the belt path is clear and any guides are properly positioned when the cover is properly replaced and the hump on the brush roll that contacts the belt is not mishapen.
