There should be a fuse inside on the AC line and it may be on the inverter(power) board of the unit.

SOURCE: Samsung Microwave model # SMH7178STD just stopped working.

This is usually caused by either a bad door switch, a loose door switch mount, or a problem on the control panel.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside.

If you or a friend decide to look into it, we have critical information on safety, disassembly and door switches at our site, linked here on Fixya: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

If there's no obvious removable cover over the bulb (and the owner's manual doesn't address it) some disassembly may be required.

Always unplug a microwave before removing or installing any bulbs.

If it's an over the range type, remove the vent grille across the top and see if bulbs can be accessed there. There may be a panel on the bottom covering the light(s), instead.

If not, chances are you'll have to remove it from the wall, then remove the outer cover. If so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.

If you don't have your instructions, please reply back with your brand and model number.

Once it's out of the wall, the outer cover (wrapper) will need to be removed, just as you'll need to do on a counter top model.

On a counter top model, be sure it's unplugged, but otherwise ignore the instructions above this paragraph.

The screws you need to remove should be pretty obvious, but a special driver (such as a T20H type or GTXH20-100) may be needed.

Be sure to put all the screws back in the right holes, since some may be special grounding screws.

Bulbs can be had in most grocery stores, hardware stores, home improvement centers, and big box or department stores.

You can order specific Samsung parts here.

Many models use halogen lamps. You must not touch the new one with your bare skin, as the oils will shorten the bulb life.

SOURCE: I have a Samsung Model

It can likely be repaired.

We regularly repair these for $39.95 in most cases, but in some cases, a low voltage transformer may be required, which increases the cost by $25 in most cases.

The service manual is very helpful during disassembly, and we have uploaded it to our site here.

I turned on microwave. lost all power after a few seconds. outlet has power

First, check to make sure you have 120 V at the outlet it's plugged into. If you do, then the most likely cause would be that the main fuse has blown. It is inside the case, usually near where the power cord enters the cabinet. If it is blown, visually inspect it to make sure it hasn't been getting hot - melted solder near the ends is the usual tip-off. If it has been heating up, the fuse holder may have to be replaced as well as the fuse.

No power to microwave

Hello

Check the Power Cord

Verify that the power cord is properly connected the outlet; the plug might have been removed to make way for another appliance. Do not connect the microwave to an outlet via an extension cord or plug adapter; the oven must be directly connected to an outlet.
Switch the Outlet on

Turn the outlet on, if possible, using the switch on the wall behind the counter or on the plug itself. Some microwaves have a separate power switch that must be in the correct position before you can begin cooking.
Reset the Oven

Unplug the oven, wait a few seconds and reconnect the power. A power surge could have temporarily rendered the oven inoperable. The oven should start up as normal when you connect the plug to the outlet.
Check the Fuses and Breakers

See that the fuse or breaker protecting the oven's circuit is still active. Replace the fuse if it has blown, or reset the breaker to restore power to the oven. Stop using the microwave if it repeatedly blows fuses or trips breakers.

I just turned on the microwave (samsung) and it started for a second then turned itself off and now it is doing nothing.....

HELLO.

This is the step by step solution.

Check if there is live power on the outlet.

Make sure the microwave plug is fixed properly on the outlet.

If the problem is not solved, then change the fuse placed behind the microwave that is used to control power suppl to the microwave.

Thanks.

Have you checked to make sure that you have power coming in to the unit? Check the fuse to the outlet that the unit is connected to before we go any further.

Usually, when your microwave oven doesn't work it all, the internal fuse (thermal fuse) is blown. This fuse protects both you and the oven. When it blows, you need to have a qualified appliance repair technician replace it.

Door switch If the fuse isn't the problem, check the door hooks and the door-release button. When these are broken, the door switch doesn't activate, so the oven can't work.
