When empty/ or dry clothes hetas up works great put in wet sock it doesn't heat up!!!

Our gas dryer does not heat up in any of the three cycle areas.

This was tested with wet clothes inside.

The burner will go on occasionally for a few seconds but turns off within 10 seconds or so and does not come back on.

Something is turning it off - all other functions of the dryer are working ok. The vent system has been totally cleaned out.

This problem doesn't sound right, but you could have a bad moisture sensor.

Kenmore gas dryer 110.78622700 Runs, tumbles, heats but does not heat long enough to dry clothes. Amy ideas what to check first?

Probably the solenoids on the gas assembly are bad. If it heats at all that is a sure sign of them heating up and quiting. Very common and easy fix. Before trying to check that look for sensor bars inside the dryer under the filter and clean em with windex. If the have buildup on em they might not be sensing wetness.

Tumbles but does not dry

When you put your wet cloths in the dryer close the door. You should then turn on the dry cycle you wish, not the fluff option as there will be only air and gas dryer will not heat the cloths. Wait 30 ~ seconds after the dryer is turned on and listen for the gas to ignite and begin warming and drying the cloths. If you hear no bump sound like the ignition of the gas, then you have an ignition issue. It will require replacing the ignitor. All the best and good luck. Hope this helped.

Dryer not heating up

Ignitor may not be working, or gas valve is not opening.

Apr 30, 2010 | Kenmore 73952 Gas Dryer

NO HEAT WHEN CLOTHES ARE ADDED

Check to see if vent hose is not restricted. If it goes up inside wall, it could have lint clogging it. Most dryers regulate heat with air flow. Wet clothes can restrict flow even more if vent is clogged or pinched. Air flow is crucial to heat cycle. If the vent is resrticted, heat will rise quickly, but not cool down fast enough to allow heat thermostat to cool down and turn on heating element again. It may seem hot inside dryer but if no air flow it will increase dry time or not dry them at all before timer shuts off. If vent goes up inside wall, buy a small chimney brush and try cleaning out vent from attic if you can.
