connecting to the modem will get you on the internet but it doesn't solve the router problem

SOURCE: cant access tp link tlwr340g gui

Unplug the modem network cord from the router, make shure nobody need internet access at the time.

Then access the 192.168.1.1, and it should be the router.
In the Router GUI, change it's address to somethign else.
(192.168.1.X) where X= something between 2 and 254)

Save settings and plug the modem back into the router.

Im trying to set this up as an access point. but it will not fine a ip from the router

Most router wont act as a DHCP client (Get an IP address) on their own.

You need to go into the Belkin setup and set it to an IP address in the range of your other router.

For example:
If your PC is getting (connected to the same network) an IP address of 192.168.0.3 IP and a Default Gateway address of 192.168.0.1 you can set the Belkin with any adderss between 192.168.0.10 & 192.168.0.254. Changing the last octet (set of numbers after the 3rd period) to the desired address.

I need the ip address

Hi,
Welcome to Fixya. If you need the Ip Address of the router to access the router page you need a working computer that is connected to the router. To access the router page just open a browser then type 192.168.0.1, the Default username is admin and the password is blank.
Thanks for using Fixya.

Where do i put the ip address so that i can change channel of my router

For that you need to connect a cable between the router (LAN) and your computer.
Then either follow the steps mentioned below or follow this link
(http://www.hnetworking.com/networking-devices/routers/how-to-find-the-ip-address-of-the-router/)
Then, click on start->Run->CMD
Then on the command prompt type "ipconfig"
Then under the Ethernet Adapter Local Area Connection you will get Default Gateway number

http://www.hnetworking.com/networking-devices/routers/accessing-the-router%E2%80%99s-web-based-setup-page/
Put that number in the Address bar of the internet explorer
It might ask you for the router username and password.
Type the one for your router.
Then you can access the GUI of your router.

If you want then we can take the remote access of your computer and try to help you with it.

Someone is acsessin my router and useing my internet without my permission i need to change the password but i cant

Reset both password (1) pasword for access router via GUI (2)Wi fi security password WEP or WPA or WAP
For that Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link.
http://192.168.0.1
or
http://192.168.1.1
If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it.
Then it ask for user name and password.
Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank.
Then you can see configuration page of router.
Then click on administration and change password .
Then Click on wireless settings enable wireless then enable WEP Security then add WEP code .It is your password to connect wi fi.Then save settings and restart router.
Then you can connect your wi fi network with that code.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

you should refer to your ISP or to the Router manufacturer on how to access the GUI of the router. problem could be both devices are using same IP. there is a collission issue there. you should change the gateway IP to one of your devices.

the reason is the password on the GUi and in your computer is not match. You need to access the GUI by opening a browser then type the ip address of your router. You need to contact your ISP to assist you in configuring your wireless account.

Network

as long as you are not using your own router to connect to your neighbours, as this wont work only one router on the network can connect to the net Im assuming your pc is trying to connect to the neighbours router, so you need to reset the router if you cant access it, it should have no password as default and the ip address of the router should be 192.168.2.1. get into your network cards properties and ensure obtain an ip address automatically on the TCP/IP line is selected. Go into the router settings and make sure enable DHCP is set to allocate ip addresses automatically and that the router transmits on mixed mode b and G, turn off any wep or wpa encryption until you have a connection. Do not use windows connection repair as it will totaly mess up your pc's ip addresses and stop you from connecting to the routers ip address.
