Question about RCA 40" Class LCD 1080p Widescreen HDTV, 40LA45RQ
I had the tv only a few months when the picture went out. Oops as wife was going to call service people while I was at work. Time passed and now warranty is expired. The tv is brand new. I put it back in it's original box hoping I can fix it in my spare time. Everything worked excellent until the picture went out. Still has sound. I'm not an Electrician, just know some basics. Any ideas would be most appreciated. Thanks.
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

This is a very common problem with RCA tV sets. But unfortanatly, RCA is no longer made in this country or even owned by RCA anymore. They are a Canadian company called Thompson Corp and could not give two hoots about any problems with TV sets sold here in america. I say this from experience and try to contact them and file a complaint. ther customer service is rude and basicly calls us idiots! Alot of class action suits are pending or have been dropped as for the amount of sets they company have sold,They have attorneys working for them and delaying the cases. It is really the fault of the US Judges that are total morons about these things and try to go by un written laws. They dont have a clue as most of the US goverment does not. Your problem is not a power supply problem, But a high voltage transformer and a horizontal output transistor, and the reason why the estimate was so high, is because the tranformer is no longer available. Thats why the estimate is so high. Because who in there right mind would spend so much on a set as this. You can buy a 32" RCA(BUT I WOULD NOT BUY TRASH)At Wally World for less the $250.00 bucks! I no longer accept RCA TVs in for repair as replacement parts are so much money and im not proud to say I work on RCA TV sets. Total garbage sets!!

I see this alot at the shop ... the front panel buttons have become damaged. THe best coarse of action is to replace the front button cuircit board assembly... **** there is a tempery fix untill you get the part... remove the front panel and take button cuicit board out...just use remote to control the tv. This is also a way to test to see if this is the problem.. if you romove the connector to the buttons and the problem goes away then the buttons are the problem. you get get this cuicit board at union electronics. You have to get the extended model number off the back ussally d52w20yx1 or yx2 or yxsomething...not to difficult a repair

SOURCE: TV turns its self on and off
Greetings. I had the same problem with my 29" RCA, and it was easy to repair. I opened the back cover of my tv and just disconected the two wires cable that connect with the upper controler (volume, chanels, etc); and now it is working OK; but I must operate the tv only with the remote controler.
I hope this could help you.

IF the set is under warranty, you should return it.
Do this to see if your set is "sending" the image to the LCD panel.
1) What the set on take a bright flashlight and press it against the screen.
2) Look for the "image" moving around the edge of the flashlight.
3) If you see the "image" then the problem is in the inverter/CCLT or the power to it.
4) If you do not see the "image", you should look at the LCD controller(TCON) for the problem.

At the top of the clock, there is four positions for the slider. The first is shown as a key, which I assume is the automatic time setting mode. The second is Wake 1, the third is Wake 2 and all the way to the right is a manual time setting mode. If you slide it all the way to the right, you can set the time, then either keep it in that mode or return it back to automatic mode. Either way, you now have the correct time displayed.
