Question about LG VX-8700 Cellular Phone

1 Answer

Battery went dead

Checked my LG VX8700 (1 Year Old) in the morning and the bettery indicated fully charged. That evening while the phone was on my hip, it got very HOT, and went dead. I charged it over night and in the morning it indicated fully charged. Seems to be OK so far today. Do I have a bad battery, or was this a one time fluke? Should I replace the battery?
Thanks.

I charge my phone and 30 minutes it is dead. Then I charge the phone and it is still charged the next day. This is not the first time it has done this.

Same... my LG VX-8700 (about a year old) was getting warm (noticeable on the back, below the battery, expecially more noticeable when the back cover is removed), and the battery draining in a few hours. I bought a new LG battery. Same problem. Maybe this is why Verizon no longer supplies this phone...? Anyone have the solution or reason...?

I have the same problem and no help from Verizon. It happened twice to me last summer. It would get very very hot and then phone was dead. Now have refurbished phone that will only hold a charge for less than twelve hours. At first they told me it was my battery and they lied because by battery was fine.

Most likely you have a bad battery you can check by taking out the battery and feeling on it if it is flat than its good if it has a bump on it than it is no good.

Sounds like the battery's dead. Goto your cell phone provider and ask for a battery to check and see if it works in your phone. If it does, then buy a new battery.

Hope this helps,

Depends on whats running and what you use it for during its use. Technically shutting it off to reset it once a day is good, but it being half dead a day and half later is pretty normal

Phone dies after only texting maybe three or four times even though it was just taken off the charger.

How old is the phone? These kinds of batteries need to be handled with care. Meaning, for the battery life to be high, you must fully charge phone, then use the phone till the battery is dead, then fully charge again. Do not charge if there is still juice in the battery and do not take off charger after only partially charging the phone. This will help maintain the life of the battery.

Verizon Voyager will not chage or work on battery, fine on AC

Sounds like the battery connections may be corroded, try gently cleaning them with a pencil eraser. Clean the connections on the battery and in the phone. Water damage is indicated by a red indicator in the phone. if it is red it indicates water damage which is probably why they will not replace it. If you have insurance on the phone that may be an option for you.

My battery went dead this morning i charged it this evening and it is just showing a battery and timer wont switch on or charge??

from what I hear, you have either fully charged your battery or your battery is pretty much completely dead.

your options:

1. If it's completely dead and won't hold a charge it's time to purchase another battery, this happens from time to time so don't freak out about it.
2. If it's fully charged, try taking the battery completely out of the phone, and re-inserting it after a few minutes, sometimes cell phones need to be reset.
3. ensure that your charger is working properly, if its not getting juice to it neither is your phone.
4. try to dial your number just to see what happens to the phone.
5. if someone else u know has a charger like yours try to borrow theirs to charge your phone possibly ruling out a bad charger
