It is probably a Torx screwdriver. You can purchase them at Home Depot,Lowe's or even Wal-mart

The memory socket is located below and to the right of the keyboard. The panel is to the right of the mouse pad.

The keyboard needs to be removed. DO NOT REMOVE THE KEYBOARD CABLE! Remove the screw located in the middle lof the underside of the n610c. Slide the four tabs located on the top edge of the keyboard toward the space bar. The tabs are located to the right of the esc, the F4, the F8, and F12 key. Using a flat blade screwdriver gently lift the top edge of the keyboard, once it is lifted slide it toward the screen.

The panel covering the memory may require "gentle force" to remove.

A small flat blade screw driver should work to remove the screw on the underside that fastens the keyboard. Compaq did use torx screws on a lot of their products.

I want to upgrade the internal ram on a samsung p30 laptop

If it has a second slot, it will be under the keyboard and you will just need to remove the keyboard. Typically there will be 1-3 screws on the back of the computer labelled with a K, and or you need to pry off the bezel on the front above the keyboard which also may have screws on the back holding it in place. Along the the top of the keyboard under some keys you may see holes, these are pry holes. Be careful though it is easy to break clips.

How do I upgrade my ram on my Gateway All in one zx4250?

I too purchased a Gateway ZX4250 and a 4 GB RAM upgrade kit. It took me awhile to figure out how to open the case. Here is what I found.

1) Remove the two rubber pads at the bottom of the case (don't worry they pop right back on).
2) Open the small back cover.
3) Remove the one screw.
*****CAREFUL****
4) This part is a little difficult but just be careful not to use too much force. Take two small flat head screwdrivers and slowly separate the plastic silver front panel from the plastic black back panel. Start at the bottom where the two rubber pads were removed. Work your way around the case, you can see how the clips are connecting the two panels as you work your way around the all-in-one. It shouldn't be too hard just be careful on how much force you use.
5) Once the panels are separated you can now access the hard drive, optical drive and some other components.
6) Disconnect the Hard drive sata cable from the motherboard.
7) Disconnect the other cable right next to the sata cable on the motherboard (I'm not sure as to the purpose of this cable.
8) Remove the screws from the metal plate covering the motherboard. Take careful note that a grounding cable is connected to one screw.
9) Install your RAM.
10) Reverse the procedure to put everything back together.

This whole procedure to upgrade my RAM took about 15 minutes. I hope this helps some of you that are trying to upgrade your RAM. If you have any questions PM me.

How to open and upgrade RAM memory of gateway netbook model LT2704u?

This netbook is really the Acer Aspire One D255. You have to pop off the keyboard, then remove 4 screws that hold the back panel in place, which will allow you to remove that back panel in order to get to the memory.

Here's a video - blurry but it tells the story: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KYNTvF0-5M

How do I open the machine to install extra ram

Flip the laptop on its back, in the center of the bottom of the case is a large access door shaped like a free form "L". loosen the screws to this access door and pry one side open and pull the door the rest of the way. The screws maybe designed to stay on the door and only need to be loosened. Once open, you will see the RAM modules in thier sockets. Simply move the side clips away from the side of the module and it will spring up at a 45 degree angle. pull it out of the socket at that same angle, to replace, push the new socket back in at a 45 drgree angle and then push the module down untill the clips snap in place.

Adding ram to averatec 3715-EH1 laptop

Hi there.
Its fairly easy to upgrade the system memory on a laptop, if you turn the laptop upside down there should be a panel with a couple of screws, like this >>>>>>>

Take the ram out and take it with you when you go to purchase your new ram, at least then you are making sure you getting the correct ram modules.

Good luck and thanks for choosing FixYa!!

Upgrading RAM on Acer Travelmate laptop - can't see existing RAM module

Safely depends on your knowledge of computer hardware. If you know what you re doing, you can take the whole thing apart and replace any non-chip component you want (processor, drives, cards, etc). If you really look you can find sites that will tell you how to take apart a computer. If you don't know what you are doing and your current configuration works well, I would leave it for now, and wait until you can find someone that can help. Hope this helps.

You need to remove all the screws from the back also, then remove the cover to the rear on the bottom and remove the wireless card (make note as to connection colours) and there is 2 (I think) screws under there, then one also under the battery, then the whole top opens up.

Make sure you have removed all screws from the bottom case, including the four under the rubber feet at the rear.

This was the most awful laptop I have ever worked on!
