SOURCE: Shuts off, must reset clock
I had this problem also, but what happened with mine is that it popped about 1/2 the bag and then the light popped inside the microwave and it shut down completely. My husband went out to see if the circuit breaker popped, it didn't, but he switched it anyway and the microwave came back on. So he put the micro on a power surge protector, and we tried again, but this time we used the minute timer and it just popped about 1/2 the bag and then blew. The surge protector still was working and so was the outlet, but the microwave was blown. About a 1/2 hour later, I looked in to see the micro and the clock had come back on. We just purchased this at Home Depot this past weekend, should we take it back and get another one? or is it our electical outlet?

SOURCE: can't use the microwave
To lock or unlock the keypad, press and hold the CLEAR pad for 5 seconds. If this recurs, you may have a power line problem or trouble with your controller. If you suspect trouble and it's under warranty, don't hesitate to contatc GE via ge.com. If you don't have your mower's manual, you can download one at: http://www.geappliances.com/service_and_support/literature/

SOURCE: Microwave keeps shutting off
The magnetron is overheating, tripping the thermostat, which shuts off all power until it cools down.
This is usually caused by a blocked air vent, failed internal cooling fan, or failing magnetron.
If it's out of warranty, I'm sure you'll find it's uneconomical to repair, even if you could get parts for this brand.

It sounds like the magnetron may have
either failed or is not being supplied with the extremely high
voltage required to run it.
Make sure the !!!!capacitor is discharged!!!!! before attempting any sort of repair.
Check the door interlock switches first then the high voltage diode with either an AVO model 8 on high resistance range for short circuit, the capacitor can fail and go short circuit, the feed fuse on the primary of the high voltage transformer and then finally, the magnetron is best checked by substitution.
Hope that helps.
