Refurbished Item, worked flawlessly for 8 d...

Regarding:
Schematic for Apple iPod 2nd Generation 4GB Model MA107LLA

I reviewed and executed the steps in the manual for troubleshooting and reset. The PC has the lastest updates from iTunes and Windows. However the Ipod seems completely dead, as if the battery had been removed. The Computer will not recognized the iPod and the cable and USB has been verfied and are working properly. The test in iTunes does not detect the unit. The Ipod simply does not exist as far as the PC is concern. I've try the reset, according to the manual, No Use!. I've also set it up on a powersupply overnight on the possiblity the battery need a charge; but can't figure out the problem. It had a 7 day return warranty it lasted 8 days... planned obsolences, if you ask me. Worked flawlessly from 12/25 and when out with 2008. Seeking Schematic, can only imagine the battery failed since no sign of activitiy is present when the ipod is connect or disconnected from the PC.
