My remote has suddenly stoped working for my Sony KV-27S42 27" TV. The remote control still works fine. I know this because I put fresh batteries in and it also still works the DVD system that is connected to the TV. SO apparently it is the sensor on the TV that is malfunctioning. Anybody with any suggestion on how to fix or replace the sensor would be much appreciated.

The original remote control of your TV is available at Ebay. It is priced $8.99. Just order them with the exact model number of your TV and order for a remote control of the set. They will get it at your doorstep. OK.
You just check your remote control handset for its infrared emission. There is an infrared light emitting diode [LED], in front of your remote control handset from which infrared light rays are send to your TVs infrared sensor, fitted inside it, behind the infrared window on its front panel. Infrared rays are invisible to human eye. We can check if it is there by using a cellphone with camera option.
Put the cellphone in camera mode, and place your remote control's LED side towards its lens, for about a feet away or so, and when you push its each button, you can see an image in the phones' screen. If it is there, and still your TV don't work with remote control, TVs infrared sensor inside is faulty, and needs replacement.
If there is no infrared image from your remote control, you have to buy one new remote control. OK.
Since remote control is verified so next thing involved in remote operation is remote sensor located on front of tv that receives remote signals. Remote sensor seems defective in your tv and need to be replaced to solve remote issue. Call local tv repairman if you have no experience of soldering parts in circuit board. Thanks.
Could be the IR receiver in the TV. Make sure nothing is in front of the TV that would block the IR from receiving commands from the remote, I've seen customers put VHS tapes on the front of their TV that caused the remote to not to work.
you unplugged the front panel with the buttons on it and the remote reciever
you have to slide the chassis out
reach in to the front and replug the front panel to the plug from the main board
then slide all boards back in place
this s gizmofreak
the solution to the above problem
this s because of the sensor in the remote control, check the batteries n the remote because battery doesn't works its difficult for the sensors to retrieve power from it.
Possibly some of the dry wall dust could have gotten into the buttons on your remote.
You can check the remote by holding it close to an AM radio receiver and listening for popping sounds as each button on the remote is pushed. You may have to move the remote around to find a position where the radio will pick up the signals. (usually close to the antenna )
also you may have to tune you radio up and down the dial.
With this method you can test each button on your remote!
Hope this will help you!
