Making a sputtering sound on spin cycle

Each time the drum spins, it sounds like someone put a playing card in the spoke of a bicycle.

It sounds like the tub bearings are going. Same problem in my 6 year old maytag. We are not repairing it and starting a money-pit.

The 'card in the spoke of the wheel' you describe is more like a grinding sound with us now and the tub will no longer drain and it shuts down in the rinse cycle with a strong acrid electical smell...It is getting replaced.

SOURCE: "howling" noise during spin cycle (still there after changing burned off belt)

Travioso, there was two service flashes out on this model concerning the seal and bearing which means they had an issue with this washer. The howling noise you are hearing is the bearing and will need the new designed triple seal and bearing kit. This should be covered under your warranty, I believe it is 5 years. The numbers for the service flashes are TDL-0048A-B. Call Maytag and inquire about these service flashes, these should be covered. Catriver.

The water pump may be going bad...Yes it probably is a bearing. Take the belt loose and try turning each pully until you find one that makes noise or is hard to turn. Pump and motor should both spin very easily with out noise.

My washer is making a card stuck in bicycle spoke sound during rinse/spin cycle

Something has probably got behind the drum. Usual suspects are broken underwires from bras and hair clips or pins.
Spin it by hand when empty, both ways and see if you can figure out where it is at. Check the filter and the flexible rubber hoses from the drum drain point to the filter and the filter to the pump. Give those hoses a squeeze and see if you can feel anything in them. I have found bits of underwire, coins and small metal items. They are removable with a bit of effort, but be prepared for water spillage. Take a photo before you remove anything so you can see how it all fits back together.

My Samsung VRT washer model WF410 makes a clicking noise when it is spinning. It sounds like the noise you hear when you put a playing card in the spokes of a bicycle. It is brand new and has made this...

I'm trying to figure this out also. I think its coming from an air vent located on the top right of the machine (facing front.) It was blowing on a tag...still investigating. Also dances on initial spin up. I'm on concrete and travertine and I think the plastic feet are sliding on the marble. Am cleaning dust and putting rubber pad down to see if that fixya. I'll post back.

Making a noise during the spin cycle

Hello, it sounds like the bearings are going bad. Try spinning the drum with your hand while it is empty. It should spin nice and smooth. If the rotation feels a little rough and noisy, you might have a problem. You can double check by taking the drive belt off and try shaking the pulley. If there is "play" when shaking the pulley, the bearings are most likely toast. The inner stainless drum rides on two bearings which sit in the rear of the outer plastic drum. The whole plastic drum and bearings come as one piece and go for $150. It would cost about the price of a new maching to have someone come out and repair it for you. It sounds like kenmore has had a bearing problem which is pretty rediculous considering how much these things cost. Sears said, "those tend to go in a few years", which is criminal especially since the warrenty is usually conveniently exopired by the time this problem happens. If you are handy, have a spare day, and can remember how to put a washing machine back together, go for it. I did it and it was not a fun time. There is a lot of sharp metal edges in the machine so wear gloves.

Thanks

I have a indesit WIB 101 (uk) washing machine.

Remove the belt, and from the front, spin the drum by hand.
If it is noisy or rumbling or feels rough, then the main drum bearings have failed which would explain why the belt was off.
Also check the drum pulley for a brokem or cracked spoke, again this will give you the same symptons.

Please rate my solution.
Thankyou.

Sound like something has gone in between the drum and the outertank, usually a bra wire.. unless you can see it poking through a hole in the drum the only other access points for retrieval are through the sump hose at base , or the removal of heating element.. other than that it becomes a strip down job... but usually the 2 access points are sufficient..

Fisher and Paykel clicking sound

it sounds like the bearings are going out as it spins faster the noise quietens down because the bearings are more spread out and as it slows they fall lower leaving an area that it causing "friction" of a kind

Drum won't spin freely

Are you sure that there is nothing sticking through the holes in the drum like a nail etc or a screw from trouser pockets, it could be that the heating element has come loose and is scraping against the drum or that the bearings have gone.

Spin cycle trouble

possibly a segment has raised on the motor armature or a faulty motor brush. pop off the belt and put it into a spin cycle to see if you still hear the noise- if so the fault is with the motor as the drum will be still. any scraping sounds in the drum may be a lost bra wire.
