Re: Three seperate colors on Screen

Screen may have a hair line crack in it causing projection to be distorted. Inspect screen very closly with magnifying glass if necessary to insure no cracks. If crack is found replace screen.

Sony rear proj tv, no picture, menu appears, but in three seperated colors pin cushioned.

Best to first if you have not done so---UNPLUG the set for several minutes and plug back to power to see if that fixes it (it does a lot of the time especially if you had a power outage).

Wave & three colors

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony,Samsung, JVC, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Akai, Pioneer, Hitachi, Zenith, and others. You can get a convergenece repair kit wiith instructions from the links below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms
  • Screen Looks 3-D
  • Colors wont align
  • Screen may look distorted or warped
  • No Audio/Video - makes a chirping sound.
Problem #2

Another common problem is dull or washed out video.
Your TV2_bing.gif may have one or more of the following symptoms....
  • Dull looking picture
  • White looking picture
  • Halos around objects
  • Red/Orange looking picture

You can see some more examples and find a fix here

The convergance IC's need to be replaced along with possibly a pico fuse in the same circuit.Theres a large heat sink with two IC's starts with a STK number, replace them and that should take care of it.

Screen color/picture quality

You can access the menu by hitting two buttons on the TV itself at the same time. You then adjust by hitting the up/down buttons.

The double pictures u mention sounds like a convergence problem.

If adjusting the convergence via the menu does not work
you would need to order 2 parts and be able to solder. A rather inexpensive repair if you can do it yourself.

Toshiba TP50G50 Theaterview picture is double with red color only

Your alignment is off. Go to the set up menu then convergence. hit right and you will be in the convergence menu. select the color that is not in alignment. The green line does not move. if blue and green are lined up the line will be cyan. if red and green are lined up the line will be yellow. when all three are lined up the color will be light. Best of luck!

Green picture

i dont think it the color wheel - to make it green the glass would of come off and the tv would be vibrating badly. to check pull the lamp out and with a flash light look at the color wheel -
you most likely got a surge that glitched the eeprom - you will need the service remote to adj the white balance

WS-65907 Picture problem

Greetings joanne7,

The issue you are having could be caused by your television needing the convergence adjusted. During production your televison has the three picture tubes that are converged to form a single image on the screen. Over time these can come out of adjustment.
If you go to this link and check pages 57 and 58, it gives you a very detailed guide on adjusting your convergence. I am aware this model number is slightly different than yours, but I own a 47" Mitsubishi and this is the exact procedure we use to do our convergence so I am confident it is fairly universal.

The reason that they might snap back into place when you hit the base is that they are actually three different colored picture tubes or rods. By hitting the unit, you are moving these. I would suggest doing convergence on a regular basis and to avoid hitting your tv. :)

I hope this helps!
