Question about Dell Latitude D505 D510 D520 D530 D531 D600 D610 D620 Replacement PA-10 AC Power Adapter Charger (DELLPA1013) AC Adapter
I have a Dell latitude D600, the charger whas beeping and not working. Someone repaired it for me, but he forgetted to connect the IDentification lead inside the adapter. I opened it (ofcourse without any power on it) and the white wire goes to the GROUND (negative), the black one goes to the V+ (positive). Next to the GND there is the ID hole, but which wire do i use for the ID ? I Founded this: http://www.laptop-junction.com/toast/sites/default/files/wires-DELL-PA-1900-02D2-AC-power-adaptor.jpg and see only the black and white wire ... Whitout that the laptop battery won't charge and cpu runs on slow speed (600Mhz). Please help me if you have any advice for me =D

SOURCE: AC Adaptor DELL PA-12 checking
See what the output voltage the adapter says, it may be 19.5VDC @ 3.34A.
Set the Multimeter to read 20 volts DC or more.
Put the Black lead on the outside of the plug (negative), and the Red lead inside the plug (positive).
They usually have the positive as the hole in the plug.
Look at the reading on the meter, if the power adapter is working it will read around about the stated voltage but none of them are completely accurate. It may be a little more or a little less.
If it is nowhere near the stated voltage then there is a problem with it.

Dell's are the worst. First is the wire broken out sidde the box? Most I have repaired have broken at the plug real close to the end that plugs into the computer. Looks fine but the wire breaks inside the insulation. I slice the insulation back looking for the brake, cut each wire at different locations, so you do not get a large patch in the same place. Solder the wires back and tape them up = match color for color.

Look under the laptop. There should be button to push to the side(it has a lock picture). After pressing it the hard drive will come out( i dont know if it is a hard drive). After it comes out put it back again. It should help. It worked for me.

Try updating to BIOS to version A16 from http://support.dell.com Ensure you are not attached to the docking station when flashing the BIOS. Once updated, connect the 90W adapter to the docking station, connect your laptop to the dock, and power on using the docking station power button.
