Try this site scroll down a bit:http://www.insidemylaptop.com/how-to-disassemble-asus-ux50v-laptop/
Have you tried to do a system restore? Maybe a "Cold Start", remove the AC plug, remove the AC plug, hold doen the on/off button for 10 seconds, replace battery, plug into AC outlet, re-boot. If that fails try again this time repeatedly tapping the F-8 key so you have options to restore/recovery etc.

I can't get into BIOS the laptop will only boot to the ASUS screen. No opportunity to press f8 as the machine does not boot that far. I believe that removing the cmos battery will reset the BIOS to factory, but no one seems to know where the CMOS battery or the clear/reset jumper is either??? I know I could find it if I opened the case, but I heard that some of them (battery) are behind the screen??? I just wanted to get an idea of where they were before I dive in !

The CMOS battery is on the Motherboard:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0gpFMF5R... If you remove the AC plug, remove the battery, leave the battery out for now, plug in AC, reboot, when you push the on/off button IMMEDIATELY start tapping the "esc", F-1 .........F-12 one after another, in quick sequence. It has to be done immediately after the on/off button is pressed. If you can get to the SetUp page look for the boot sequence/ order.

Try the "esc" key at boot. IMMEDIATLY start tapping the "esc" key, push the on/off button with one finger while tapping the "esc" key with the other finger, REPEATEDLY.

SOURCE: CMOS replacement for ASUS d1

It's difficult to say but you will need to remove the underside screws and also maybe even the keyboard as it's often attached to the base. The cmos battery could also be behind the screen. Comment by sandrew, posted on Nov 12, 2006 I'm sorry but I dont have any personal experiences with your particular laptop, but the lcd's are generally held in with 1 screw in each corner normally covered by a rubber bung hiding the screws, I would be very carefull not to disconnect any wires behind the screen, if yor not sure take it to a qualified repairer. You will probably have to remove the top panel just below the hinges as they may be held in underneath

SOURCE: Hard Drive Password Lock out

If you are able to locate either the jumper (JBAT1) terminal from pins 1-2 to pins 2-3 for a few seconds and then back to pins 1-2; or the cmos battery(remove for about 10 minutes) which will be on the motherboard although where is anyones guess, unless somebody does know, but i'm sorry i don't. Athough this may not open up the hardrive as sometimes there is a hidden file on some manufacturers hardrives that sometimes prevent formating.

Black screen after asus logo

If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LED flashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow my instructions to identify the fault and possible fix :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3598095-faulty_laptop_lcd_screen

Battery replacement

Your laptop is 2 years old? Your battery is dead already? There are many online battery sellers, just do a Google search. BE ADVISED, Beware of cheap batteries, Look at the ASUS website for a replacement and a price. Use the model of your laptop and crossreference the battery Model numbers and power specs. Remember, the batteries that are cheap are cheap for a reason. That said you can usually find a battery for less than a laptop maker, ASUS, will charge. You can start looking here: http://www.amazon.com/Asus-U50F-RBBAG05-Laptop-Battery-Replacement/dp/B004FOR4Y2 .

Asus N45SL stucked on Jay Chou logo

Restart your computer
During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup usually the Delete or F2 key
this will vary depending on your computer and operating system

Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS using the arrow keys load failsafe defaults or load optimized defaults press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart
hope this helps

Mostly in laptops the CMOS batery is located below the memory
so you need to open the memory door and take the memory strips out so that the CMOS battery will be visible

Stuck on asus logo on startup??

Same problem here with my wife's Asus laptop. Called Asus and they said to unplug charger, remove the battery in the back, hold down the power button for 10 seconds. Then, replace battery, then charger, then press the power button and wait for startup. First time it got stuck at the windows loading bar screen for like 5 min. which is abnormal. Did a hard power down (press and hold power button til it shuts off) then restarted again. That time it worked and all is well so far. Could have been due to a static charge as she was on our couch with our dog backing up movies so charge might have entered through the CD/DVD drive opening. (?) Not sure, but if you are sitting on a static-prone couch with your laptop its probably best to sit on top of a bounce sheet.
