    * Tried setting it as Master and didn't hook up my other DVD/CD-RW
After which it is now working with some memorex DVD+R's I just went and bought.

    * Will try to hook up my other combo drive, then update all drivers for entire pc not just the drive itself as first tried.

It no longer can see files on any DVD type. I have reinstalled XP Media center prior to this. I have found the firmware both an older version and the newest one hpdvd740b_HJ24.exe with no success. Followed directions to delete in hardware manager and regedit both upper and lower filters, no luck there either.

Called HP to find out it has more than one laser inside, in fact multiple lasers. One can go bad while the others still work, I replaced the drive problem solved.

SOURCE: problem copying a movie onto a lightscribe hp dvd +r media disc, using my hp dvd940e dvd writer

The semaphore timeout period has expired refers to the fact that the driver is no longer communicating with the device and failed. Each time a CD Burner is setup for a CD Burning session the burner hardware will perform a 15 step power test to determine the OPC for a Blank Media Disc, OPC meaning Optimum Power Calibration. This test also takes place during the CD Burning process so the CD Burner can determine the best burn speed and method for the disc; this test is called 'Running Optimum Power Calibration'. Although the test is performed by the hardware of the CD Burner, the device initializes the CD Burning Software for the test to take place. This is one reason why your software may report the "Power Calibration Error" or ?Calibration Error Full?. With Power Calibration errors they can be caused by different factors and sometimes difficult to locate, especially if the errors are at random. Below are the known factors that will cause the Power Calibration Errors and how to check each factor, it is important that each point is considered if wanting to get to the bottom of the error. Power Calibration Errors can occur when OPC or ROPC tests for the media disc so the condition of the disc, brand of disc and even the firmware for the CD Burner can be the cause for the errors occurring. A device such as a CD Burners can have different problems if there is a power consumption issue with the system and the Power Calibration Error is just one of those problems. If using either an internal or external CD Burner make sure to disconnect all other devices, except the hard drive and Burner, before attempting to burn a disc. Double check all cables for any faults and if possible test with a 2nd Data Cable. It is also advisable to disconnect the power connection for the CD Burner and test with a spare connector. If you have no trouble with other discs, use them and put to one side the lightscribe, other than that try the burner in another pc or with other burning software, as you can see it's quite ridiculous what problems burners can create.

SOURCE: Hp 1040i xp problem

I'm not sure if this will help you but read this link I'm sending. I went round and round with 3 different highend motherboards and processors and kept getting error after error, everything I read in forums, the tech guys, everybody seemed to go to my memory as the problem but low and behold I wasn't believing them and my research paid off. Maybe the intel/hp problems I was having are related to yours. The acceleration software maybe. I dont know but you might want to give it go. I was a little shocked that my brand new dvd writer intel conflict would cause the blue screen of death. sorry so long but if this helps anyone I'll be glad. Thanks, great days to all, Dave http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00001705&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=3422492&lang=en

SOURCE: dvd drive of my hp dv2000 is not working. it does

There is a screw (tiny machine screw) that holds the entire DVD/CD assembly in place. Usually this screw is located by looking on the bottom of the laptop and has a little picture of a cd embossed in the plastic. Sometimes this screw is under a "lid" such as the cover for the RAM or HDD, depending on how your laptop is engineereed.

Find this screw, unscrew it, set it aside and them pull entire cd/dvd assembly from computer. Replace the cd/dvd drive into the slot you pulled it out firmly and quickly.

Turn on and test reading of CD/DVD.

If love is found, replace screw holding asembly, etc.
If no love, replace CD/DVD drive.

Other sources of love:

correct cd/dvd driver.
remove/replace cd/dvd driver
update cd/dvd driver

Can you upgrade cpu in dell 15 i5559-4682slv to i7 ?

It is almost impossible to upgrade proprietary makes like Dell and HP. The are big enough to have motherboards made for them manufactured on price point. This means that they are not built with upgrade in mind. Also the cases are made to fit their motherboard and theirs only.

Go to a computer builder and get a good case, buy a good quality motherboard and equip it with what you can afford. In two years you can upgrade as processors have moved on. Two years after that, you can swap out the motherboard, processor and memory.

I had a similar problem and I had to "Delete Volume" when in DIsk Management. I then had a choice to "Create Simple Volume" which I did, and then a wizard created the correct partitions and assigned a drive letter to my external drive. Everything was them OK.

Burning movies on the computer , playback fine on two computeers , will not play on ONN portable player used DVD-R

Burning dvd\'s is always a crapshoot when you have multiple machines. Computer drives are more tolerant on playback - the problem lies with your other, independent playback units. That is why in your main viewing area it is important that you have a few units so that if disk does not play in one machine, it will play on another. Has to do with the individual differences and calibrations of the machines involved. Store bought dvd\'s have less problems because their laser reflectivity is always higher than disks you burn, and therefore, easier to read properly. Price of the unit has no reflection on ability to properly read the disk. Sometimes and often, a cheaper machine will work better with copies - you never know.

You can recover the file with 3rd party data recovery software.I have succeed to recover files from external hard drive with Tenroshare Data Recovery. It can recover data after deeply scanning your hard drive to look for lost files. By the way,you can download it and scan your hard drive for free to preview whether your file can be recovered. Get it from http://www.any-data-recovery.com/product/datarecoverystandard.htm

How to install bluetooth on my pc

Hello,
This depends on what kind of bluetooth you plan on using. Certain things like a Blu-Ray DVD Drive needs to be installed and hooked up internally in your PC, while something like Headphones or a Keyboard simply just needs a USB-based transmitter or a Bluetooth card that plugs into your computer.

Hope that helps,
