Question about Dell E173FP 17" LCD Flat Panel Monitor

1 Answer

Monitor display I had a hard drive crash recently, which resulted in my having to re-load all of my software. Since re-installation, my monitor is working, but when I drag a window, the window moves in what I would describe as "waves". It seems to "flow" across the screen instead of just moving across the screen. Does anyone know what I need to do to correct this?

Re: monitor display

You might want to check the refresh rate in your advanced settings under display properites. Under Windows it shouls be something like: Start Button > Settings > Control Panel > Display Then click on the Settings tab, and on that screen click Advanced On that screen, click on the Adapter tab. At that point, make sure the adapter listed matches yours, and refresh rate should probably set to adapter default. Hope that helps.

Monitor will not display . Says to set resolution at 1280 x1024 . I used another monitor and changed the resolution and still didn't work. tried in safe mode, no good

Check your video drivers and the software that supports your video card. I recently did a complete OS reinstall and used the best and latest video drivers. My video card is an nVidia 8800GT. I downloaded and installed the latest software from nVidia. My display works great.

It isn't always a fault with the display. Sometimes you need to have the correct display drivers. A generic driver thqat is not the one you need could be a problem. Also, if you use the correct video sriver for your system, and you don't have the right software installed and configure for your video card, it can also be a problem.

To see is there is an obvious driver issue with your display in XP (I have XP), right-click on "My Computer."
Select "Properties," then "Hardware." Select "Device Manager" and check the list to see of you have an exclamation point beside "Monitor" or "Sound, video, and game controllers."

If everything checks, and you can confirm that your drivers and applicable software are up to date, and settings are all good, it is not software or drivers.

Hope this helps!

Where can I find drivers for Samsung's 910t monitor? A generic is controlling it now & it's not coming close to the quality it had. (The computer crashed & I installed a new hard drive but the...

The problem is not the LCD monitor; the problem is that the current device-driver for your computer's video-card is a "generic" ("low-resolution") device-driver.

Open "Device Manager".
Expand the "Display Adapter" section.
Double-click the video-card.
Click "update driver" and let Windows access the Internet, to search for a better driver.

LG Flatron W2252TQ 22'' monitor not working in digital mode

try to set your screen resolution to maximum using Display Settings in windows. Besides, are all software drivers for this monitor loaded and properly installed? Right click My Computer=>Properties. select hardware => device manager. Make sure video icons are not marked with question marks. if they are, install monitor drivers shipped with your monitor.

All of the software drivers for your machine can be found by using Dell's support page.

Here's a direct link.

A lot of experts here will just give you a direct link to the file you're looking for. Although this is great for an end user since all you've got to do is click the link, it's not going to help you long term.

What I purpose is you learn how to find software drivers yourself.

This will decrease the need to relay on others for help and will ultimately make your experience with computers much more pleasurable.

If you're still having trouble just reply to this thread and I will respond immediately.

Also please don't forget to rate my solution FixYa, it helps me, help you.

Drivers cannot be does not recognize monitor

I think after your crash you are missing the drivers for your graphics card and not the display. Check what kind of graphics device you have and see if you can find the drivers for that.

Can not load f1903 software on microsoft xp system

This has nothing to do with your monitor. Windows has default drivers that will be installed for that.
The problem will be your video card drivers are not installed.
Get the right drivers for your card, install them and you should be away.
