Question about Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-SW29M50 29" TV
My Sony Tv WEGA, Model No. KV-SW 292M50, 2 years old, abrutly squeezed(curved) its picture vertically in both sides (picture color remains the same though images distorted) leaving me nothing to do. I consulted local repairers here just for suggestions on which parts might have failed to function. Their answers mentioned a number of things like horizontal capacitors/transistors, york coil failure etc etc. Actually we don't have a Sony repair Center nearby, and I would like to have a specific idea which parts should I order from the Sony Service Center.
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.
click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

With TV off, enter the following on your remote:
Display > 5 > Volume + > Power now you are in service mode 2 & 5 will take you up and down categories 1 & 4 will take you up and down settings within categories 3 & 6 will change the data up or down
So press 2 until you come to the 2170D_2 category Press 1 until you get to HSIZ and change the data down to the required setting (different data registers for different width settings)
It could be more involved but this might do the trick in your case. Good luck!

Its pin cushion distortion circut had some trouble with it. There is an Ic and one transistor wich controls the pincushion effect. In most cased the trasistor that fitted on a heat sink, will have loose soldering at its terminals. this transistor will heat up during working, and repeated heating an cooling will make solder terminal loose contacted and it is normal fault. locate this transistor, very near to the LOT, resolder its solder terminals by applying a little more solder. It is best to resolder most of the surrounding solder terminals of high watt resistors, without making any solder bridge in between the solder points. If these does not helps you, replace both the IC [an eight solder terminal one, small IC] and the pin out transsistor described earlier at the same time. this will solve your TVs problem. OK.
