Question about Microsoft Office Word 2003 for PC
When I opened word files in my pc, file conversion window opens, i can't read files in any encoding. Previously these files had been opened normally which I could read.
Try to repair your corrupt file with the help of Open & repair. You can do this by following below steps:
Start->File->Open->Select the corrupt file->Click arrow next to open button->select open & repair
If you are still facing the same problem then try to start MS word in safe mode.
If you will be able to open the file in safe mode then there is a problem with add-ins. Delete all the add-ins to fix the problem.

Excel may have "Ignore other applications" selected. See THIS Microsoft Knowledgebase Article.
Try going to Excel Options; Advanced tab; and under the 'General' heading: uncheck the box that says: Ignore other Applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE).

try opening the files in another computer and check if the problem is still there. But before copying it have it scan with anti virus to make sure that it is not a virus that is making your .doc files unreadable in your computer. there are only 2 possible ways that this things happen 1. either your computer is infected with a virus 2. either your microsoft word installation is damage and needs to be reinstalled.

In Microsoft Excel 97, on the Tools menu, click Options. Click the General tab. Clear the Ignore Other Applications checkbox, and click OK.
In Excel 2007, Click Office Button, Excel Options, Advanced.
Look for General.
Clear the Ignore Other Applications checkbox.
Now, as to why this was checked in the first place, ewan ko na!

Do you know where your office folder is? If you do copy the outlook file to the desktop. It should be named outlook.pst unless you renamed it.
Create a new profile and it the claender works then the pst is corrupt. If it is corrupt then copy the original pst to the desktop and run scanpst on it. When it finds error fix it. You will not need to back it up because this is a backup on the desktop. Run scanpst till it stops finding errors. Then import it into your new profile. To find scanpst go to start and search. Go to files and folder. Then type scanpst.exe. Choose the one that looks like a broken envelope.
