Question about Pentax Optio E10 Digital Camera
The other camera could be recording pictures with a smaller size and/or higher data compression.
You're getting 250 pictures on a 1GB card. That's about 4MB per picture, which is a bit on the large side but not completely out of line.

Try another card in your camera but check the inside the card holder that you have not got a damaged connector in there. and format the card with the camera and not on pc. Hope that help you.

The maximum supported size is most likely 2GB SD Card. Cards with 4GB and more are following a new (incompatible) standard called SDHC (SD High Capacity), SDHC cards work only in devices specifically supporting SDHC. The Optio S5N uses the old SD standard where 2GB are the maximum size.

I know that usually, you should format the card for the camera that your going to use. Try formating it in the camera and see if that works. Let me know if I can do anything else for you,
