My pellet stove is turning my mobile home into a sauna! How do we turn the auger and heat down.

A corn burning heat stove is designed to burn shelled corn.
Corn burns hotter than wood. Corn is an annual, renewable resource that is in plentiful supply. Our stove will be delivered in about two weeks and we will have about 120 bushels of corn outside the back door for a ready supply.
We will load the hopper with a five-gallon bucket of corn once every 24 hours during the coldest days. There is a heat regulator so we can adjust it for warmer or colder days. Our home is a fairly open design and with the stove in a central location, it will easily heat all rooms. No chimney....it is direct vented outside, and it didn't raise our insurance as a wood-burner would.
We will use a minimum of propane for cooking and heating water.....less than 250 gallon a year. No cutting down trees, chopping wood or buying loads of wood.
Oh yeah, another thing.......we needed a base for the stove.....DH works at a large home improvement store and brings home boxes of whatever is being discontinued at the moment.....he happened to bring home a variety of marble sample blocks.......they are going to make a beautiful base.

Pellet stove smokes after blower stops

This should not be happening, have somebody check the draft for you, smoke should be drawn out chimney, unless draft is no good.

Why does my blazeking wood burning stove get creasote in the fire box and how do i get it out?

Hi Darlene,
Creosote consists of combustion byproducts,[smoke] that gradually builds up in the stove & chimney.MOISTURE in the wood, and slow burning greatly increase build-up. 1/4 '' of creosote is considered a hazard. Consult a professional chimney sweep, then burn only 'seasoned' dry hardwood, and when you start or re-kindle the fire, burn it hot enough to thoroughly heat the flue; this will draw the smoke up the chimney faster, decreasing the time build-up can occur. Stay Warm!

Smoke and soot from my pleasant hearth stove

Your chimney must be properly installed above the roof line to prevent downdraft. The soot issue may be cause by burning wood that is too green, not dry enough to burn clean.

Safety is a concern when using a wood stove in your house. Be informed about the dangers of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning.

Carbon Monoxide Detectors are mandatory by law in some states. Protect yourself and your family.

Have a pellet stove that has been working perfect for years, then last night it shut itself off and when I opened door there was this black tar on everything inside and the windows were also black. I had...

Several of things come to mind: Have you changed the type (Brand) of pellets, recently?
Have you had your chimney (stack) cleaned in the past year? Is the fresh air intake functioning properly? Is the auger feeding to much or to little pellets?

Changing brand of pellets - Not all wood pellets are made the same. If you recently changed brands, you will need to tweak your stove to handle this new brand. This will affect how the auger feeds.

If you chimney (stack) hasn't been cleaned in the past 12 months, it may be partially clogged with creosote and not drawing properly and it is liquefying and running back down the chimney and not allowing for a clean burn. And could cause a chimney fire.

Fresh air intake: If that's not functioning properly, you're getting incomplete combustion. Which will cause the black tar looking substance you described. Couple that with changing brands of pellets and you have a problem.

The above are the first things that came to mind. I hope it steers you in the right direction to troubleshoot the problem. Please let me know.

I just got a Whitfield Quest pellet stove from a friend. Do I need a fresh air pipe if I use it in my house/ basement? Also where can I get a repair/owners manual. Thanks Kurt Willem

Some people plump in fresh air but you can also punch out the fresh air in take out on the back of the stove and recirculate the air within your home.I would think twice about installing it in your basement . Basements have a tenancy to create a negative pressure, which means that it can become very difficult to create and up draft through the chimney , which causes the smoke to seep out of the stove into your home. The only way I have found to over come this is to run a torch in the stove for 5 mins before starting a fire, this creates an up draft which eliminates the problem.
