Question about Kenwood Radio Communications
Kenwood Transceiver ts790 VHF/UHF.
When wanting to use 432mhz the display shows row of dots and fails to function. It will eventually come to life only after prolonged switching on of radio when heated up (2hrs+). No sound can be heard until display shows but this can be muted sometimes suggesting maybe dry joints on PCB.
I have been told this may be due to bad earthing of PLL unit for the 70cms board.
Many thanks if you can oblige.

SOURCE: VHF Unlock
Radio off, use moni & menu toghether, start radio keeping the 2 pushed for some time until SELF apears on display. Then insert magic code 5858. There are now 2 values on screen like 136 174 first is lower limit, second is higher limit, after moding ude Enter and restart radio. Remember that at extreme ends pll may not lock on tx or rx or both, this is phisycal limitation of the radio board.

If your area is big or has a lot of concrete, then you will need more then just a few cheap radios from thailand, Given range info from broshure is always meant above flat area - not inside building
