Samsung X05, 40 GB, 512 ram, problem-there is no power supply
My Samsung X05 notebook's battery is full and it gives a power back up of 1 - 1:30 hr. But all of a sudden there is no power supply. I couldn't turn it on. What could be the problem and and what could be the solution. How much will be the charges. Could you please suggest me an authorised service centre for the same in Delhi. I had bought it for Rs.5000 from my friend so i dont want to spend much on it. Please Advice..

Plug in power cable and press power button ...wait a minute or so to see if theres anything...if nothing press and hold power button for 5 or 6 seconds you should hear some response..now press power as normal to boot ..if this dont do it remove power lead remove battery...insert power lead and try to boot ...if successful when booted up and windows running replace battery and restart(reboot)
I dont think its a bios prob but if all fails remove rtc battery for a minute or so then replace to reset bios and then boot.
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

I cannot directly answer that question because you did not supply the motherboard model number. You will have to look this up yourself, here is the url for Mercury support http://www.mercury-pc.com/downloads.php
The model number is usually printed on the motherboard, find it and you can download the manual, specs and drivers.
There could be many reasons,
1 Either the RAM slot is not working
2 or the RAM card(s) are not OK
3 or the RAMs are not compatable(not of the same specs)
1 Remove both the RAM cards, clean the metal joints in both the RAMs and the RAM slots
2 Remove power, remove all power source, remove power cables including all the battery
3 Keep presssing the power switch ON for a few mins, Do....ON... OFF, ON... OFF WITHOUT any POWER
4 Replace battery, power adaptor, power cables etc
5 Insert one of the RAMs in 1st RAM slot, power on, check if it's OK, Switch OFF, remove the RAM
6 Do the above process for the other RAM, now check if that works, use the same RAM slot
7 Now do the above two steps for the 2nd RAM slot
It will give you a rough idea of where is the issue.....either RAMs are not OK or the slots have issues or there is a compatibility issue among the RAM cards.....
What type of RAM is your Pc using? SDR, DDR1 or DDR2? 1 GB single module of RAM maight be heavier for your notepad and the Laptop maight even fail to boot. Just use the 2 Modules of Ram (2 chips each 512MB) and check in BIOS if the RAM capacity has acually changed.
request you to check speed of 2 gb ram with old 512 gb, if u r using 2 strrips of 1-1 gb then first remove both and resinstall old 512 again, and checked, again install both 2 gb ram and check. if after installation of 2 gb ram laptop is not restarting the problem is only with speed of ram. u may need to install ram with proper matching speed
I think due to Battery your laptop should not be slow . But as per the RAM in your laptop you need to add some more RAM with WinXP and SP3 with the type of Configuration it will be slow with or without power.
There should be a reset button on bottom of laptop....if not...remove battery, power supply plug and remove the mbottom panels....under one of them is a battery the size of one of two....either 6mm in diametre or one of 22mm in diametre...remove it and leave laptop for about 5 min....remove memory, touch the memory's golden edges briefly with your fingers to discharge charge in memeory.put everything together...should solve your problem.
