Question about Sony MBX-49 ASSY Motherboard
"pressing the power button on and off it gets on", is a typical problem for these boards.
Ridiculously, if you leave it alone for about 3 months it will start right up!
I suspect cooling fan is intermittent (sticky) and damages ram and possibly other on-board components from the excess heat.
For your video problems it sounds like it really got too hot!
(Fan cools both processor and on-board video chip, memory is on other side of the damaging heat).

Backup your data and restore the laptop to original condition with the disks that come with it
if that dosnt work you may need to have your ram checked or replaced.
hope this helps
