Question about Drills

Drill keeps on stopping and won't restart

Using a brand new Bosch PSB 650 RES (corded hammer drill) for the first time. It frequently stops drilling (often after a few seconds of use from cold) and takes tens of seconds before it allows me to start drilling again. My recollection is that the trigger was locked while it wouldn't restart.

It was bought in the UK (Argos), the drill says BOSCH PSB 650 RES on the side. The manual that came with it is for types :

    PSB 600 RE
    PSB 640 RE
    PSB 650 RE
    PSB 650-2
    PSB 700 RE

So it's probably very similar to those.

    Thanks

I checked the Bosch website to see if I could help but the number given doesn't match up with any of theirs. Could you recheck both model and brand and let me know and I will try again

Check the cord...sometimes if the brushes are not seated well or if there is a cut in the cord you will run into that problem....If it is not that then possibly you just have a faulty drill

BOSCH 11247 Hammer Drill will drill but will not hammer. Opened the transmission case and no parts broken but low on oil. Could that be why the drill stopped hammering?

Top up the transmission with PAG150 oil. The Bosch stuff is hideously expensive, but it's the same as the 150-grade oil used in car a/c systems. I fill them so the oil *just* covers the big gear.

I have a bosch 11264EVS hammer drill that just stopped working. I checked the brushes and have continuity to the rotor. Is there somethingelse I need to check/replace before I hunt sown a service center?

Did you have continuity from one brush to the other? Some Bosch tools use "pop off" type of brushes. When they get worn down a spring loaded center pops out and keeps you from damaging the armature. If they are fine check cord continuity. If the cord is fine it is most likely the switch. You can test the field for continuity also but those rarely ever fail. Here is the parts diagram.

Does the bosch hammer drill gbh4dfe have a thermal cutout

No, if it got hot and won't work you have another problem you can start troubleshooting by looking at the cord and continue thru to the brushes.

I used my 1199VSR without the right size extension cord (too small of a A.W.G. size) but dont recall a burn smell. When using the extension cord it was working fine then started going slow and then it...

Howdy, I am willing to confirm what I believe you already know; it's cooked. Now about fixing it You can do it yourself with bosch parts for almost the cost of the drill, or have it done for somewhere between free and ? by Bosch depending on how long you have had it. Bosch has a prorate form of warranty repair that sometimes works out really well.

Whichever way you choose to go, this link will help you it get dealt with pretty darn quickly:

Drill just stopped? not working

These tear the brushes out. You can not use them for hammering. It is a design problem.

Replace the brushes and use only for straight drilling.
