Can not trurn camera off!

Hi all I have a problem with my camera. It refuses to turn off with the on/off button. It will turn off using the power saving mode but it will turn its self back on again about 15 seconds later. To stop the battery going flat I have resorted to removing it when I dont use it. Any help would be great. Thanks

Re: can not trurn camera off!

Does your on/off button appear to be stuck? Might there be any dirt under it? if you gently shake the camera, does the button appear "loose", and is it "unresponsive" when you press it? (i.e. doesn't move) It might be that the "behind the scene" parts are stuck in the down-position, but not the part of the button you see. if button appears stuck, you might try to give the cam a gentle knock with a scredriver shaft, but be careful! You just want the button knocked loose.

Hi i have sony h7 and wan to reset to factory

Cyber-shot cameras nowadays have a built-in rechargeable battery for retaining time, date, and other settings. Since the built-in rechargeable battery is not removable, current Cyber-shot camera models can only be returned to the original factory settings by pressing a small RESET button on the camera or by using an Initialize option in the menu.
Older-model Cyber-shot cameras (prior to the year 2000) do not have a built-in rechargeable battery and do not have a RESET button or Initialize option in the menu. These cameras require a manual power reset.
IMPORTANT: To determine whether or not your camera has a RESET button or Initialize option, or for other model-specific information to complete any of the steps in this solution, refer to the operating instructions supplied with the product. Manuals are available online in the Manuals/Specs/Warranty section of the Sony® eSupport Web site.
Follow the appropriate procedure below for your camera.
Using an Initialize option in the menu
Since Cyber-shot cameras have different menu system layouts, refer to the instruction manual specific for your camera model.
Using a RESET button
  1. Locate the RESET button on the camera.
  2. Use a pointed object (like a ballpoint pen) to press and hold the RESET button for 2-3 seconds.
  3. After 2-3 seconds has elapsed, release the RESET button.
Performing a manual power reset
  1. Turn off the camera.
  2. Remove the battery pack.
  3. Remove the button-sized lithium battery.
  4. Allow the camera to remain without power for 30 seconds.
  5. Reinsert the button-sized lithium battery.
  6. Reinsert the battery pack.
  7. Turn on the camera.

Button came off

Button Part# x21083252 Sony gets $18.61+$9 shipping...Ripoff!!!
YOU MUST BE PREPARED TO TAKE THE CAMERA APART. There is NO WAY to replace the shutter button without partially removing the underlying shutter/selector wheel assembly. You WILL BREAK the button assembly if you try to force it in. To do the job all you need is a good Phillips screw driver and a pair of eyebrow tweezers. Unscrew all the external case screws remove the rear half of the camera, then remove all the sliver screws you can find and use the tweezers to gently pull the ribbon cables out of their sockets (some cables use flip-up cable locks; they have black retainer that can be flipped up with the edge of the tweezer).
Remove the LCD panel and the metal plate behind it, unplug more ribbon cables and gently pull the entire camera assembly out of the front half of the camera shell. carefully remove the flash capacitor in the grip area and remove the two black screws holding the button/selector wheel in place. With that assembly out of the way install the new button and use the tweezer's edge or a jeweler's straight screw driver to turn the button 1/16 to lock it into the button assembly hole. The male protrusion should line up with the slot on the button/selector wheel assembly. Reassemble in reverse order. MAKE SURE ALL CABLES ARE INSERTED FULLY INTO CONNECTORS OR YOU WILL GET A "TURN POWER OFF AND ON AGAIN" ERROR!

Canon EOS 400D camera refuse to start

I do not have good news for canon EOS digital camera. The CF pin area had a short during power on situation, many time we had to replace the main circuit. It is connected directly with the main circuit, more likely the board need to be replaced and the Canon factory would be the only place that can service this problem. The board does not have a fuse that will reverse this short. -James

Sony cyber camera

The Camera is displaying the Turn the power Off and On again message when the Lens in the Camera is stuck or when any internal malfunction happened.
To resolve the issue turn the power off and on several times. If the issue persists, try power resetting the Camera. To power reset the Camera, remove the battery from the Camera.
Press and hold the power button on the Camera for 30 seconds.
Remain the camera without power for 60 seconds and re-insert the battery.
Also try resetting the Camera back to factory default. Press the RESET button located at the lower right corner of the control buttons using a sharp pointed object.
If the issue persists, service may be required.

Good Luck

Camera refuses to zoom out

I had a similar problem. The lense extended when I turned the camera on and immediately retracted and turned off by itself. I pulled the memory card and then reinserted/reseated it. It appears to have fixed my problem.

Lens will not retract

It sound like a problem with the zooming mechanism (lens would not retract or extended) Press the power button on and hold it down while extending and twisting the telescopic zoom lens. It might fix your problem. In any case it could not make it worse. Good luck!
