Question about ViewSonic NextVision N4060w 40 in. LCD Television

Viewsonic N4060w will not come on.

I have a n4060w lcd tv that will not not turn on. When you press the power button the green liight comes on briefly and then nothing. Is this a minor repair possibly with the logic board or is this an indication that the back light is gone. Also, if it is a minor repair, does anyone know who repairs them. Please help.

My Viewsonic N4060W is doing the same thing, the green light will blink once and then nothing. For a while it would work if you hit the power button 10-20 times, it would then seem to stick, but now nothing no matter how many times you try. I bought this tv at Fry's for $1,500 about 18 mos ago, Casn it be fixed or am I out $1500 bucks! How disapointing!

Replace the c21 and c22 capacitors on the power supply. they are both 1500uf, 16 v. When you pull the back of the set, youll notice that they will be slightly bulging. be sure to order quality ones (105 degree, and reputable brand). Radio shack won't have them, so you'll need to probably go online. The caps are around $1 each. order a couple extra just in case. Digikey.com sells them. I recommend you use a low watt soldering iron (15 watt), desoldering braid and take your time.

While this isnt an exact fix at work, you will at least be able to view your tv. We have one at work that would do nothing when you hit the power on button, just the usual geen led flashing. We pulled the cover off and found the bulging caps, more than likely from brown outs. But we also found that none were holding a charge. So we held the power button on for at least five min, after the led would stay on for about 30 sec and then turn off. We kept hitting the power button and the screen would try to come on. It finally did. After it did come one we can power on and power off aslong as we dont turn it off for more than 10 min. After 10 min of it being off we have hold down power button again and start the whole process again. So the main problem i believe is the caps arent holding a charge, to be able to kick the high voltage circuit on. We did not replace any caps but if we do end up changing parts will post what was changed and cost. Hope this helps

this does seem to work as a short term "patch", I guess I have to look into changing the capacitors based on what I've been reading. I have the vs10846, and i'm trying to find a vid or manual on how to take it apart and find which capacitor might be bad (outside of looking for bulges).

I bought a 40 inch LCD viewsonic flat panel, I've had this T.V. for about one year and a half and recently I started to have problems with it. TV did not want to turn on anymore, pushed the power button LED light would turn on and quickly it would turn off. Held button for about 10 minutes and finally it would stay. But now the TV doesn't want to turn on anymore. Called Viewsonic and they said they can not help me, that I have to take TV to a TV repair shop and if I needed a part that they would provide it. I spent 1,200.00 on this TV and I recently took the TV to a repair shop and found out that the part I need is going to cost me 700.00 dollars. I called viewsonic about problem and all they said good luck with my problem, I feel that for the amount that I spent on this TV I shouldn't have to pay for this problem, being that is a hardware problem and not a mishap problem. I want my money back!!!!!

Had same problem. replaced all bulging caps on power circuit board - eight of them with new, quality ones. Cost me about 14 bucks. Works fine now. This seems to be a common problem and there are "cap packs" online that you can buy which include the rest of the caps on the board that seem to fail (thinking about it now, I probably should have replaced the rest whilst i was there). I would strongly suggest getting someone who knows what theyre doing to replace the parts PROPERLY.

Sound is pinned at 100% output. Remote nor physical buttons on device are working.

If any of the buttons on the remote or tv work, then try going into the menu and turning the sound down manually.

My sony wega kf-50E200A tv keeps turning off. during each cycle the green light blinks 42 times and the tv comes on again for about 3 minutes and it happens all over again

More than likely the power supply is defective, but without testing and the repair manual that is just a guess, you make the decision to replace or repair the TV.

The color on my TV is all pink. I have tried a hard reset but it didn't help.

Your TV has lost a GREEN color from a basic color palette (Red-Green-Blue). It is often caused by:
- damaged LCD cable (which connects the display with a signal board inside the TV),
- damaged video signal cable (ex. SCART, HDMI, VGA),
- damaged video processor (on the signal board).
I can't give you a more accurate answer, because I don't know what is your TV mark and model and, in what situations you have the problem.

When we plug in the chord an press power the tv come on an the goes off back

Probably a bad power supply in the TV set. Further diagnostics would likley require disassembling the set.

How to Program

Viewsonic n4060w I was changing my chanel from the console, then the screen went blank. I can hear sound. I try to view the menu or sources but nothing. I can turn the tv on and it lights up a little but still cannot see anything. First, I had trouble with turning the TV on/off -- I could turn it on from the unit, but had to turn it off on the remote. Then, the on-screen menus started going haywire in that, as soon as you pressed the menu button, the TV would automatically quickly go through all menus on its own -- so fast, that you couldn't stop it. I had a local TV repairman come and he said that it was either the board for the TV's control buttons, and/or the main board -- which I guess is the inverter board(?). He ordered both from Viewsonic (apparently, anyway), and voila! TV started working again... but only for a week. The new problem was that it wouldn't turn on at all now. So they ordered a replacement for the two boards AND a new power supply. Lo-and-behold, he got a garbled mess to display with the new boards before he put in a new power supply, and deduced that the power supply was not the problem (and returned it). So, he said the new main board that was sent was defective, and ordered another. Today they came and attempted to put in the newly arrived main board, and it was missing capacitors (and, obviously, the TV is not working still). So, they are ordering another. I just sent him a link to an on-line store www.discount-merchant.com who had some parts available, one of which it claims is video board for an N4060W. Holding my breath now, I guess. Viewsonic is a nightmare!
