Question about Huffy 12 in. Girls Disney Princess Single Speed Bike. Purple

Rear wheel not running smoothly.

Hi, i was just wondering if anyone could help me with my bike problem.

I recently noticed when i rode my bike that it was taking much more effort to ride; I also noticed that when i took it inside, the rear wheel isn't spinning smoothly. it spins approximately one-and a half cycles smoothly and then becomes stiff...and then smooth again.

Is it possible to fix it myself? or should i just throw it out? its a malvern...nothing too fancy.

Thank you for using fixya, the problem that you are encountering may be attributed to the freewheel (rear) or the hub to axle assembly on both front and rear.

Im currently using a Haro Flightline and used a few. When this kind of problem occurs, you may want to focus on the following:

crank set: remove the chain and check if it rolls freely, if not, try to open the case and look out for broken ball bearings or misalligned parts, then lubricate it.

Rear wheel assembly: remove the chain and the whole assembly from the bike, then check if it rolls freely. If not, same method, check the bearings and the freewheel. allign and lubricate it.

Hi I recently bought a used roadmaster mt sport sx bike and the rear gear that's attached to the wheel is moves like in circles... is that supposed to happen... if not how can I fix it?

Lots of things on a bike move in circles. If you mean it moves when you pedal but does not "catch," so the bike does not move forward then that is a problem with the rear gear cluster. You need to have a mechanic look at it. If that's not what you mean you need to get help in providing a more clear explanation.

How hard are you cranking down on the quick release skewers? Overtightening the skewers can bind the bearings in some press fit hubs.

The most likely cause of this problem is that the back wheel is not in straight. If you loosen the 2 nuts that hold the wheel in you'll be able to align it with the chain. When you stand behind the bike the wheel and chain should be parallell.

You should also keep the chain oiled as it helps to stop it hopping across the gears.

Break-in stretching of the shift and brake cables is normal.

My son just bought a 26" Huffy Jolt mountain bike. The rear sprockets spin freely when the pedals are cranked either forward or backward - - that is, there is no coupling to the rear wheel. What can I...

The plastic is to stop the chain from touching the spokes, it cannot cause this problem, either the chain is not on a sprocket correctly or the rear cluster(sprockets) is not working.
Some spray lube may help, but if it is new, take it back to the shop.

You may have a locked up wheel bearing or you may have an object stuck in the chain. Can you spin rear wheel by hand? If not, most like bearings, if so, then you may have bent gear tooth or something stuck in chain. Check derailer to make sure it is not bent

Girls Huffy 16" bike - back wheel does not spin freely. It tightens up after a few spins.

Try the bearings. Try a different wheel and rim. If its not the wheel then the crank bearings( ones the pedals are on) could be bad or the chain could be not set right.
