Laptop screen has a strange blue/purple tint.

This laptop is brand new (haven't had it for even a month yet) Toshiba Satellite A305-S6898.
The specs on the sticker says the following:
-15.4" diagonal widescreen TruBrite display
-Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5800
-4GB 800MHz SDRAM
-320GB HDD
-DVD SuperMulti Drive with Labelflash

My friend has almost the same laptop (mine is the special edition, hers is not.) with the same problem. Compared to our desktop computer, the whole screen on the laptop has a strange bluish-purple tint to it. This is really driving me crazy since I'm an artist. Is there any way to fix this?

    Are your video drivers up to date?

Very simple ur tft screen is broken, the only thing u can do is return the notebook where u buy it and let it be repaired it will cost u nothing because u ar still in warranty

I had the same probleem with my A20 Toshiba notebook, iv reset the ATI Catalyst and it solved my probleem

can you read? it is soldered down.
it is not a coin cell it is special rechargable battery.
if the PC keeps time of day ok in BIOS, best is leave it alone.

Toshiba a305-s6898 computer starts up and goes to black screen what can fix this
When it goes to the blank screen, are you able to see the icons and such , like in the background? If so then the backlight on the screen has burned out. You could replace the screen relatively easily if you're technically inclined.
