SOURCE: HP paper jam

That is usually caused by the paper feed rollers being cover with paper dust. Take a clean cotton pad and alcohol and clean the rollers :turninig each roller as you clean it. if it has a rear dor, open it to get better access to the rollers.

SOURCE: HP Officejet 7410 AIO keeps saying out of paper when plenty of paper loaded

I have the same unit. There are many issues with it. First when you install the software you may need to add something to the registry.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Print\Printers\HP Officejet 7400 series\PrinterDriverData and create Key HPDJEnableSecondTray as DWORD with Value of 1

Once you've done this here is the biggest issue and one I've found to fix this issue PERIOD.

You need to go to your Printer Driver then to Properties of it then Device Settings Tab - you will see Form to Tray Assignment in the list and like 5 options, you have to make all but the one you want to NOT AVAILABLE. Example mine is set to Upper than Lower (Letter) all the rest are set to NOT AVAILABLE. Problem solved.

SOURCE: default paper tray selection for HP LaserJet 4200tn

1) When the printer receives a print job, it selects the tray by trying to match the requested paper type and size with what has been loaded in the trays. Using an “autoselect” process, it searches all available trays for the paper that satisfies the request, starting with the bottom tray and ending with the top tray (tray 1). The printer begins printing the job as soon as it finds the proper type/size.

2) If paper is loaded in tray 1 and tray 1 is set "TRAY 1 TYPE=ANY" and "TRAY 1 SIZE=ANY" on the
Paper Handling menu, the printer will always pull paper from tray 1 first.

SOURCE: Hp P4515n - Paper Handling for tray-2 only, gives

I just ran into this same issue with an HP LaserJet P4015n. Worked with HP and the resolution ended up being the following.
Hopefully this will work with the P4515n printer as well.

1. Open EWS page (printer page) in Internet Explorer.
2. Log into printer as administrator
2. Click on Settings tab, Configure device, System Setup
3. You will find Tray Behavior
4. Change tray 2 model to Standard Tray.

This should give you the standard options for the Tray 2 size or default to the size detected.

Hp c6180 won't print from 4x6 photo paper tray

If you put regular paper in the tray as it is asking does the printer use the regular paper to print the picture? If so, be sure the 4x6 photo paper tray (with photo paper) is pushed all the way in, and when you select print there should be an option (probably hidden in a submenu) to select the photo tray as the paper source. If you are printing from Adobe Acrobat, I have not found a reliable way to get the c6180 to use the photo paper tray. I hope this helps.

Paper jam error code 13.01.00 hp 3505n printer

Turn the printer around and lift the flap behind the paper tray. If you have a flashlight, get it. You want to watch the action of the paper pickup roller. By observing to see if it is rotating, slipping on the paper or whatever, you should be able to determine why the paper isn't feeding. A lot of times, it is as simple as the paper backstop has slid back and the roller can't grab the paper that is 2 inches out of reach. Since you've replaced the tray and paper, I would think you might have noticed that. Is the paper moving out of the tray at all?

I'm getting an error code 60.02 on a HP 4014N printer. How do I troubleshoot the problem

An error has occurred while the product was attempting to lift the tray designated by XX. Pull out tray 2 and remove most of the paper. Push the tray into the printer and listen for the lift motor and watch the paper level tab in the front of the tray. If you don't hear the motor and the tab doesn't move, it's possible the printer has a bad lift motor. Remove all the tray 2 paper and look for any paper scraps in the tray. Reinsert the paper and listen for the motor and watch the tab. If it works, great, if not call a tech.

Check under the paper tray, paper lift has to be act with the help of "knoch"( a small plastic part along with the spring to lock the paper lift) while loading the tray. If its broken or nor functioning properly paper wont lift to pickup, result error shows reload the paper tay, if "knoch" is good chek under the tray there is a metal frame drives the "knoch" If its not connecting properly make the frame slight bend to ward to up side at the centre pont. load the tray and observe whether paper lift acting or not. .

(hp 4000 printer) A piece of paper is stuck between tray 2 and under just before the toner cartridge. I can lift the flap on top of the paper after removing the toner cartridge, but cannot dislodge the...

Probably the way to go is to remove the toner and tray 2.
lay down a bunch of newspapers on the floor (not a rug). The printer is unplugged at this point.
Turn the printer over and lay it down. Take a sheet of paper and fold it lengthwise in quarters.
Manually feed the folded paper into the paper path from the bottom. Push and pull the paper thru
the paper path. The object is to push the small piece out where you can reach it.

It's not the easiest thing to explain. You always want to go in the direction that the paper moves thru the printer. This is why you start feeding from the bottom.
You know that there is a piece of plastic that is above the feed roller for tray 1 that you can pull out to give you more room.

Does not take paper

If the printer won't "pick" the paper, open the back of the machine and look for torn pieces of paper obstructing the path. The paper should be all the way back against the stop so that the rubber rolls will contact the paper when the paper is lifted up against them. There should be no paper bunched up behind the access door. If the paper is against the stop at the back of the machine and the rubber on the roller wheels is ok (mine has three rubber rolls on the right side and one on the left plus a couple in the middle without rubber) then there is a possibility that the mechanism that moves the paper up against the rollers is not operating. You can observe the paper action with the back off by putting one sheet of paper in the tray. Watch as you press and hold the second button (paper) - the mechanism should lift the paper up against the rollers and feed the sheet out the back (because you have the access door off to view). If the paper is not lifted and taken out, the printer might be repairable by repairing the part that has failed - take the printer apart and look at the mechanism. I doubt that you can find parts for it so if it is not simple repair, it will probably cost too much to repair. The paper has to be far enough into the tray so that the rubber rollers catch it - for 8.5x11 paper, the paper should be a little over an inch from the forward edge of the tray when it hits the stop (the paper guide will be approximately 1/8 inch in from that same forward edge.

Hp laserjet 8150. i have a problem, tray 3 empty, always but have paper in tray 3

CAUSE: This error message indicates the paper present sensor flag in one of the trays does not detect paper in the tray. This could be caused by one of the following:
  • A broken sensor flag
  • The tray paper guides being set too close and restricting the paper from being pulled
  • The tray is not lifting
SOLUTION: Follow the steps below to determine the cause of a false TRAY X EMPTY message. Tray 2 empty
  1. Verify there is paper in the tray.
  2. Open the duplex unit access door just above Tray 2 on the front of the printer.
  3. Check the black-paper present flag by looking in through the duplex access door.
  4. Open and close Tray 2 and observe the tray lifting looking through the duplex unit access door.
The tray lifts but the error is still present
  1. Inspect the paper present flag on the PIU located just behind the pickup rollers. Ensure the flags are present and not damaged.
  2. Remove the tray guides from the tray and reseat them. Ensure the guides are seated correctly and are in the correct slot for the size paper in the tray. Add paper to the tray and try printing again.
  3. Try another known good tray, if available.
The tray does not lift and the error is still present
  1. Remove the tray, remove the paper in the tray, and inspect the lifting plate in the tray for damage. Ensure it will lift freely by hand.
  2. Try another known good tray if available.
Tray 3 empty
  1. Verify there is paper in the tray.
  2. Remove Tray 2.
  3. Open and close Tray 3 and verify it lifts by observing through the Tray 2 cavity.
  3. Try another known good tray if available.
The tray does not lift and the error is still present
  1. Remove the tray, remove the paper in the tray, and inspect the lifting plate in the tray for damage. Ensure it will lift freely by hand.
  2. Try another known good tray if available.
Tray 4 empty
  1. Verify there is paper in the tray
  2. Open Tray 4 and check for an extra **** of paper stored on the left side of the tray. This can cause the tray to stall while lifting and result in a tray empty message.
  3. Defeat the interlock in the vertical transfer unit (VTU). Open and close Tray 4 and watch the tray lift through the VTU door on the lower-right side of the printer.
NOTE: Follow troubleshooting steps for Trays 2 and 3 when working with the 2 X 500 sheet-input tray.
The tray lifts but the error is still present
  1. Check the tray guides to ensure the guides are seated corrected and are in the correct slots for the paper size in the tray.
  2. Inspect the paper present sensor for damage.
  3. Check for any broken plastic pieces in the tray that may be a broken sensor flag.
The tray does not lift and the error is still present Defeat the VTU interlock on the right side of Tray 4. Open and close Tray 4 and observe the tray lifting.

Paper feed

Check tray 1 there should be an arm hanging down in the center of the tray the arm goes thru a slot in the metal plate. This arm moves when you install paper in tray 1. If the arm is missing or not in the slot the machine will think paper is in tray 1 and try to feed from tray 1. You can try changing the paper size setting for tray one to something other than the size in tray 2.

For example If tray 2 is set for 8.5x11 set tray 1 for legal.
The machine should then pull the correct size based on the print job.
Hope this helps
