I have the same problem with a 500 GB "Acomdata HD". This looks very much like a "Known issue". I trusted these people and saved almost all important data 3.5 GB of data and now I can't access it. I don't have the time to do all that work around described below; besides, I don't want to violate the warranty (if any).

Please send me any information you find to msojoa@hotmail.com with the title "Acomdata HD"

Thank you very much in advanced!

My computers no longer recognize my external hard

Check to see if its still under warranty. Most times they have at least 1 to 2 years. If it isn't, I would remove the drive from the case and slave it to your system to see if will work that way. Doing that will narrow it down if its a drive issue or a USB issue. Good Luck.

Not recognized

Th prob lem could be most probably your hard drive casing not supplying the correct voltage and not enough for the hard disk to spin the moter so please connect the hd directly to the computer if its fine just change the external casing..
good luck

Red Light/Blue Light I/O Error

My nx2 is working again after having the "red light/blue light/I/O Error" problem. I just:

1. turned off my computer
2.unplugged the HD,
3. took out the HD from the enclosure and plugged it back into the enclosure,
4.started up my computer without the HD being plugged in
5. after my computer had been on for a minute, I plugged the HD in and my computer recognized it and had the proper mixture of red and blue light coming from the HD, indicating it's working properly.

Good luck!

Try checking your power cord adapter.
I found the same problem was with the cord.
Luckily, I had another Acomdata HD cord to check the problem.

Worked fine for a year, now not recognized or functioning

I had the same issue- light was blinking from red to blue, could not get my computers (I have a Mac and a PC) to recognize the drive, sounded like the drive wasn't powering up...

I replaced the Acom drive enclosure with a new one (CP Technologies). I don't know if the drive enclosure or power supply was at fault-- but it wasn't the internal drive. Plugged it in and amazingly all my data was back. For thirty bucks it was far less than sending out the drive to a 'data recovery' expert!

USB device not recognized

corruption.
not fixable.
device can not tell os what it is. that is the most basic of functions.
without id, it can not set configuration needed to access data.
probably already lost data anyway.
replace is about the only option.

sorry for the news
good luck

Drive NOT being recognized by WinXP

Put your ear to the drive and verify if it is making any strange low level sounds. Check to make sure the usb connection wasnt affected. YOu wont need a driver as it appears to be hardware related. Either the enclosure or drive may be failing.
