This has to do with the refresh rate (hertz) of the monitor and whether the graphics card is capable of operating at that rate. So your graphics card is operating at a rate that is too high or too low for you monitor to receive. I've run into this when trying to use a giant monitor with an older graphics card. Are you doing that? Try a generic plug and play 17inch monitor and see if that works. Go into Control Panel, open Appearance and Themes, open Display, go to Settings Tab and click Advanced. You will see tabs for Adapter and Monitor. There you will find what is and is not supported as far as resolution and refresh rate.

The input signal out of range on screen persists in spite of all monitor and PC video settings being correct.

Have you tried uninstalling the graphics driver entirely and then rebooting? Could be a corrupted driver.

Input signal out of range

Hello

Boot the computer into SAFE MODE. Go to CONTROL PANEL - DISPLAY PROPERTIES. Change the screen resolution to a common size - like 800x600 or 1024*768 and save the settings. Reboot the computer.

Everything on the screen will be very large but you should be able to see the desktop and make additional changes. Go to CONTROL PANEL and DISPLAY PROPERTIES again, and change the screen resolution and click APPLY. This will change the resolution to the new settings and will give you the opportunity to revert back to the old setting if it does not work.

Once you hit APPLY - the screen will change. If you can see the screen, you will see the option to ACCEPT the changes or to REVERT back to the prior setting. If you do not choose anything, the system will revert to the prior setting automatically - typically in about 15 seconds.

Make changes to the screen until it appears as you want it, click ACCPET when you find the one you like.

My pc says input signal out of range and ntldr is missing what do i do

Hi

No input signal is displayed on my computer screen means your monitors refresh rate has been set at too high a frequency

To fix this you need to start your p.c in safe mode(press f8 at start up)
On the desktop go to control panel>display properties>settings>advanced>monitors>th... change the refresh rate to the lowest ,normally 60hz, make sure the box is ticked.

Please rate and make a comment if you find this solution very helpful and might help others as well. Post more comments if you need more help.

Regards and thank you for using Fixya !

Hey

Ok, the resolution the computer is using now is out of the range that is supported, try another monitor or try pressing F8 on the startup to get the advanced startup menu then select safe mode, in safe mode uninstall the driver you installed, this should return it to normal, then restart the computer and in normal mode you will need to install the old driver to get everything back to normal.

The video driver isn't set up correctly for the computer. You need to boot into safe mode - after powering on the computer, press the F8 key. You will be shown a menu. Choose Safe Mode with networking. The computer will boot using a very basic video driver. Right click on the screen and select properties. Click on the advance tab. Click on Driver => Advanced => Update driver. Once the driver has been updated. Go back to the drivers tab and click on mode. Select one of the modes. Close everything and restart your conmputer normally.
